Anyone love the movie "Harold and Maude"
Just rewatched my DVD of this flick and remembered why I loved it so much....Many people say "The Graduate" was the ultimate anti-authoritarian flick from the 60's/70's...but I would disagree. Think about how each character represented authority in the negative, with Harold and Maude representing the duality of us all...and through Maude's death came Harold's rebirth....

Anyway, some quotes to jog your memories....

"Vice, virtue, it's best not to be too moral - you cheat yourself out of too much life. Aim above morality."

"Everyone has the right to make an ass out of themselves. You can't let the world judge you too much."

"You know, at one time, I used to break into pet shops to liberate the canaries. But I decided that was an idea way before its time. Zoos are full, prisons are overflowing... oh my, how the world still dearly loves a cage."

2. I LOVED IT
when Maude threw the ring into the lake saying that way she'd always know where it was.

5. Sure do!

When I was in high school 20 years ago, we watched that film in a class I took called "Techniques of Comedy." Several of my classmates opined that I bore an uncanny resemblance to the Bud Cort of 1971!

7. Come on Harold, I'll teach you to waltz
My ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE...of course I love cynicism..but the metaphor of this movie is that Harold embraced death and found life.

10. certainly do
and I got to watch it many times. The local neighborhood theater stayed in business another 10 years by running "Harold & Maude". But it's probably been 25 years since I've seen it.

13. One of the great films of all time...
Ruth Gordon, in her biography, said she was amazed when the film finally broke even and she started to get royalties.

I never watch it without seeing something I didnt see before. Boyhood friend did the sound engineering on this flick.

15. My favorite movie.
I make sure to watch it at least once a year. Usually, when I'm feeling down I pop it in and my spirit is renewed. It's not just an awesome cinematic experience, it is outright magic!
