Woo hoo! Sold another painting.
Edited on Wed Aug-27-03 07:07 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Can I feed the ego? If not, sorry for any offense to anyone, but it's important because a) I'm trying to turn my art into a half-my-income-or-so career, and b) my job ended today so I can take a professional development course over the next three months for which I pay, and earn nothing, so any extra income will be helpful, since between now and Thanksgiving, I earn no income except my artwork or any other little side projects I can come up with.

The buyer wanted this one:

So I took it into work, since we work together, and thought "If I'm gonna lug this large thing all the way to midtown, might as well make it count, and bring a bunch more to show to the rest of the people". So, I opened the portfolio to show her the painting she wanted, and she loved it. Then, I pulled it from the portfolio because she wanted to see the other ones, and this one was underneath it:

As soon as she saw it, she said, "I want that one instead!" She fell in love with it. So I let her sit with both for an hour or so, and she ended up with the second one.

Woo hoo!!

and then at the end of the day, they laid her off.

So I'm not sure what to think.

on edit: can any one help me with this damn thing? Trying to link the small images to the large images, and it won't fricking work

1. Wow
If I weren't a struggling writer, I'd buy your paintings, too.

5. Yipppeeeeee!
Art and income, too. Can there be any better mix?

Yeah, yeah, ...loaf of bread, jug of wine and thou. Screw it, the question was rhetorical.

9. Thanks everyone for the kudos! and sorry for my silence
I lost my DSL right after posting this last night. I feel bad to start an ego thread and disappear for 12 hours...

You can see more paintings at the website in my sig line.

And to the pantsless GOPisEvil: Which one was it you really liked? I realize we communicated before the software switch, so all our emails are lost.

Classics: check your inbox for the price, though I'll say as a begining artist they're still in the affordable range.

10. 254 would look outstanding in my place!
I'm moving to a new apartment in Nov./Dec. so I'll be a tad strapped. I'm saving now for the deposit, etc.. Do you offer layaway? :D

11. Yes, layaway and time payments

I always offer that - helpful for people (and I've bought art that way myself!).

And if you get 254, you should consider 255, since they were painted at the same time (literally, at the same time), and I used the excess paint from 254 to paint 255 (I slatehred lots of paint and water on 254, then took a roller and smushed it around, then took the roller to 255; then with new color and new water, put down another layer on 254, smushed it around, then took roller to 255, etc.). (You can readily tell I used a roller especially on 255 because of the constant thickness black lines and repeated patters of the red and green stripes).

But if only one, I think I'd choose 254 out of the two. I can't say for certain, but I think it's the thickest, most layered painting I've ever done, and in person has a lot to look at.

13. *gets into gallery pose*
Hmmm...I'll have to think about that. I know 254 goes great with my stuff. 255 might have to grow on me a bit - or maybe it can go somewhere else in the apt. Bedroom maybe...

Lovely work too :)

You are blessed with both an eye and a hand and give those of us with a little less of each hope.

I am going to peruse your site for bigger images now.

:)
