I had to vote for Burris Frederick Skinner, the father of behaviorism.

Those who said things against him did not explain their reasons. I also heard him speak. He delivered an awesome speech at my college. He was in his dotage and believe that it was one of his last public appearances. He agreed to speak there because it was his alma mater, Hamilton College, Clinton, NY. I understand that he was a real prankster in his day.

As a psychology major, I also had the opportunity to meet him. All psych majors were invited to a private question and answer session with him on the afternoon before he was to deliver his talk in front of the entire school. I didn't open my mouth; at 20, I was just too awestruck in the presence of the great man. He was not at all what I expected. He was warm, witty and had a great sense of humor.

As for the principles of behaviorism, I would argue with anyone who questions their efficacy. I have seen significant improvement in patients as varied as an autistic child and an agoraphobic woman. These were my two ``patients'' during my senior year who I treated using behavior therapy, in a senior seminar course, taught by a gifted psychologist. They both were truly helped by the principles developed by B.F. Skinner.:-)

But, well, his theory is really interesting and explains a lot even though I don't agree with every single thing he said. He was more to the left than to the right, from what I've read.

However, Skinner the admin rocks, so I'll have to vote for him. Go Skinner!
