If I ask for a hug would someone give me one please
It's just been a crappy day at work and I'm ready to cry. Everytime I think I have my project done, another group comes in and wants it altared in someway. We're short a person on our team and it seems everyone is at meetings and have no concept the deadline I'm under (one person had the audacity to ask me if I ever did this one task before and I should start reading over the procedures to handle it. I retorted "Is this something you can do yourself in 5 minutes? If not, can you take a look at my data for July and finish this report while I do your job". He shut up and finished it (in 2 minutes btw). ANd to top things off, some of the people at one of the meetings got tickets for tonight's Eagle's preseason game in one of the clubboxes.

I should be grateful I have a job, but today I'm ready to go home but I'm stuck here until 8pm. Thank goodness I took a vacation day tomorrow.

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

2 more hours, you'll make it. Yes, that sounds like it sucks total ASS, but do you have a long weekend coming up this weekend? Just look forward to that when you get discouraged!

Good luck, you'll be through before you know it!!

9. 7 days today!
I'm doing shockingly well. Yes, it sucks BIG TIME sometimes, but the patch is a fucking godsend miracle, I swear. It REALLY controls the LEVEL of the cravings--IOW, I still have cravings as OFTEN as I would without the patch, but I don't have them NEARLY as SEVERELY. (Hey, that rhymed!) I don't feel like I have to jump off a building, I don't want to chop someone's head off--I feel pretty...normal most of the time! It's amazing.

I have controlled the weight gain as well, through restricted caloric intake and working out more than I ever thought I would! It's worth it though--I really don't want to get heavy again and I'll do whatever I need to to prevent that.

All in all, I'm very, very happy that I did it. I'm saving money for my move to Philly, I smell good, my breath is fresh, I'm not polluting my body, my nonsmoking friends don't have to deal with secondhand smoke...and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I won't get lines on my face! (Hee, isn't vanity a wonderful motivator?)

Thanks for asking and caring!!

7. The reason they ask you to do the impossible is because
Edited on Thu Aug-28-03 04:59 PM by demnan
they never worked a fucking day in their lives. You have the advantage. You obviously are capable or you wouldn't be in this situation. Here's what you need to do:

Go home tonight. Take a long warm bath with an amiable beverage and your favorite music. Don't think about work - that's an order.

When you go in tomorrow, set small goals for yourself, document the changes you are asked to do. Document everything. Send the documentation to your boss and the team, indicate what it will take to make the changes, do so in a methodical optimistic way. YOU CAN AND WILL DO THIS!!!!!!!

Don't let the morons take the upper hand. They need you, exude confidence and cheerfully explain the obstacles and you will get through.

on edit, a hug ((((((()))))) forgive me, I'm an Aries and try to control. :-)

10. They work just as hard as I do
In fact, they are actually doing the work we're suppose to be doing on our team. I'm on special projects with a job that most people would dread (number crunching and reporting) but I seem to excel quite well with (EEEP - EXCEL...NONONONONONO!!!!). What the problem is is my team sometimes doesn't realize that I have other work I'm suppose to be focusing on (ie - the guy that wants me to drop everything to learn something new. It's great he's showing me, but if he knew what I was doing he would have realized it was just not a good time to ask).

I can put you in contact with my girlfriend and you can commiserate. She too is in an impossible job surrounded by unsympathetic colleagues with unrealistic expectations. I'm doing my best to keep her spirits up.
