Poll question: How Intelligent Are You?
1. Fookin' Brilliant. I'm so smart Stephen Hawking calls me 6 times a day for insights into the workings of the universe. My brain is faster than a conservative in the bedroom; more powerful than Clear Channel's grip on the media; able to leap Rush Limbaugh's tall tales in a single bound; and it looks, ver-a, ver-a sexy in a tight pair of jeans.

2. Smarter Than The Average Bear. I'm no longer young enough to know everything. Though my mental gymnastics aren't Olympic Class, this is only because they've lost their amateur status.

3. The Average Bear. I'm not going to cure the common cold, or solve the riddles of time travel. But I'm possessed of remarkable good sense and the necessary smarts to see my way through life, a butterfly ballot and a productive career.

4. Not Quite Up To Average. I can walk and chew gum at the same time. Book-learnin' ain't all that important. I could kick Stephen Hawking's butt, ...whoever he is.

5. Dumber Than Dog-Snot. I are a Freeper. And so are my wife, Cuzin' Beulah.

34. When I took the ACT 25 years ago, my composite score was 32.
Edited on Fri Aug-29-03 10:40 AM by MiltonLeBerle
I was in the 99th percentile in all categories, with my lowest score being the 29 I got in English, which was still high enough to comp me out of the Rhet requirement at U of I. My school didn't emphasize the SAT, so I never took it.

36. Intelligent people are unsuitable for most professions
I read that somewhere in a human resources book about people who score in the 95th percentile on IQ type tests. Knowing a few highly intelligent people in jobs that could be performed by below average and average intelligenced people, I think that is sometimes true. Most jobs requiring superior intelligence require either a lot of education or a lot of experience and usually a combination of both. It also requires that their weak suit cannot be job hunting, resume writing, or interviewing.

37. I personally think that Duers are above average as a group
From the quality of the discussion, I would guess that the average is at least the 80th percentile. I don't mean to put down anyone who might have a below average IQ, but many average and below people do not like to have thought provoking discussions.

38. Possibly true,
again, this isn't meant as clinical research. It just a thread designed to have a bit of fun, mostly at the expense of Freepers.

Food for thought, however, is that many persons with average and above average intelligence don't enjoy irrational, adrenalin-provoking discussions. I know that there are many of those on DU as well.

Maybe we're a tad more balanced than we like to admit. ;-)
