Anyone watch "Spooks"? BBC UK spy drama?
Just curious. I really rate it - it's entertaining, gripping, intelligent, believable and funny. The characters are generally quite plausible too, which is unusual in this sort of programme.

Saw the one last week where they have to liaise with the CIA / SS due to a Bush visit, and it all goes tits-up because the Americans try to take over everything.

Very amusing.

1. I don't think BBC America is showing it ... yet
maybe in a year or two ... or sooner if lucky ...

... could be wrong ...

We're programmed for mindless repeats of Jonathan Creek, Rebus, Redcap ... and tons of Ground Force, Changing Rooms, House Invaders
ad nauseam ... my emails suggesting 'mucho' variety (and concurrent stuff) must not be working ...

3. Holy Crap - I'm watching it on a terrestrial network in Australia...
How come the US networks haven't bought it yet?

It's v. good. Lots of anti-terrorism stuff.

5. "MI-5" is the same show
If you get A&E, you should be able to catch it.

2. We get MI-5...it's not too bad.
I missed stuff from the beginning though, so I'm a bit behind. I wonder why it isn't an hour-long though...

4. It is a blast
I like the fact that the characters are believable and flawed. Each episode usually has a twist but it is usually a believable twist. The writers do not resort to foolish plot devices such as having a cougar menace a young woman ("24"). My only complaint is that A&E cuts 15 minutes (grrr!) out of each episode for commercials so the show is a little difficult to follow at times.

6. Enjoyable Propaganda

It's well-written and acted, and does a marvelous job of promoting the idea of a similar organization in the US ... until one realizes that J Edgar Ashcroft would probably head it.

On edit: it's renamed MI-5 in the US market, as "Spook" is a racial epithet in the US.
