Sometimes I feel like an utter technophobe....HELP!!
Edited on Sat Aug-30-03 11:52 AM by polmaven
I need some technical help, and I know there is always someone here who can answer my questions.

I have scanned a photo onto a Word Document, and I want to print and frame, and give it as a gift. I have the "Premiun Glossy" paper, but it is white, and I wanted to have more of a textured background.

I have figured out how to change the background on the document as it appears on the screen. Is there a way to now transfer that background color and texture onto the paper when I print?

1. I'm not sure what you're asking. If the background is on the
screen, it should print with the picture. Is the background on the main page and then the photo on top? Therefore no background? If so, you need to change the photo and you need a photo editing software. I think computers come with something from Microsoft, but I can't remember what the software is.

2. Actually, what I have is an old fashioned 35mm photo
that I scanned into the word document.

Then I went into "Format" - "background" - "texture", and chose the "fill" I wanted. It looks great on the document , but won't translate onto the paper! When I print, it all comes out shiny and WHITE. I'm getting very frustrated. I have a computer! I shouldn't have to bring the photo to a printer and have this done!

3. Microsoft Photoeditor comes with Office....
It would be better than Word.... Publisher would be better than word. I recommend PhotoShop Elements for the novice or hobbiest.

If you're going to try to do it from Word, you might try selecting the background and the phot before you print.

4. This may be a shortcoming of your printer
If I'm reading you correctly, you made the document look the way you want it to in MS Word. However, the printer isn't printing it that way. I have little to suggest except that you might check Print Preview (now a hidden function on Word; Thanks Bill Gates!) to see what Word is actually sending to the printer. Other than that, you can mess with Properties on the Print dialogue box, but I don't see a lot there that would help with this situation. Sorry not to be more helpful, and good luck.
