Second water heater-related question of the day...
My water heater used to let me take a fairly long shower, but now my showers have to be pretty quick. Why would this be?

I would call the apartment manager, but they haven't done anything about multiple other problems, so why should they bother with this?

1. Can you control the temperature?
If so then turn it up. In the colder weather the hot goes quicker.

4. I might know?
There's a pressure-seal on the side of yuor water-heater with a tube running down to the ground which releases water. Pull the seal lever up and let the water gfo for a few minutes. This helps the water heater release fragments and other things that impede it to heat the water. If water keeps dripping from teh tube, than call your land lord and tell him to take a look at the water heater, the seal will need to be replaced. Also, turn up the temperature.

5. Shared hot water source or just your apartment ?

Where is it located ?

How long has this been going on ? (It's been cold lately in Califonia)

What's the capacity ?

6. When this happened to me it was because the hot water heater
had a leak and it wasn't keeping as much hot water inside because of the leak.

When the leak was fixed, the hot shower length went back to its original length.

7. another simple (but maybe wrong) answer...
sediment can collect in the bottom of the tank, decreasing capacity and efficiency. Usually at the bottom of the tank is a valve to which a water hose can be attached.

Attach a water hose, run it out the door, open the valve, let it run till it runs clear. careful not to scald yourself.

8. it MUST be turned off first
to do that.

And if that's the problem, more than likely the element will have gone from the rust/sediment collecting around it. Would need to be replaced.
