I caught the Smile tour a month ago. Needless to say, he's STILL amazing. Catch him live if you get the chance. His backing band (featuring the Wondermints) is AMAZING-- singing nine-part harmonies in some spots.

Listening to the instrumental and vocal tracks from Pet Sounds , it's clear that he was one of the best and most innovative arrangers in pop at the time.
