Tribute to Douglas Adams and HitchHiker's Guide
After seeing many references today to the Guide, I wish to share my favorite section of the book...BistroMathics.

Please feel free to add your own favorites...just thought I would share...

2. Did I go to high school with you?
Nothing of substance to add to your inquiry, but that book was the quintessential guide to adolescence for us.

We MUST have gone to the same high school.

15. I was into this book in HS as well
and felt quite alone, as no one else I knew had read it or saw the show at that point.

20. Well 6 * 9 = 42, if you use base 13 instead of base 10.
But nobody writes jokes in base 13, not even Douglas Adams.

33. I had a prof who made us do base 3 math....
Followed by the quote "well, if you were a three-toed sloth, it would be easy"

Then again, from the same prof "now, notice, they're anti-diagonal"

I like HHGttG, but my brother is a fiend about it. He's read the whole thing probably 15 times, at this point! I've only read it twice!

Bistro Math is one of my favorite concepts.

I am looking forward to the new movie. I hope that they keep the same spirit of the books.

28. we used to have a variant thereof at the dorm
Its recipe, which unfortunately cannot be filled on Earth, is as follows:

1. Take the juice from one bottle of that Ol' Janx Spirit.
2. Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V.
3. Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture (it must be properly iced or the benzine is lost).
4. Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it.
5. Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qalactin Hypermint extract.
6. Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger.
7. Sprinkle Zamphuor.
8. Add an olive.
9. Drink . . . but . . . very carefully . . .

29. This might be silly
I got really depressed when I heard he had died. It was like losing a best friend. When ever life got too hard or I was blue I would pick up the guide and for a while all my troubles would be gone. His books could always make me laugh.

I once had to for a project memorize a poem, passage from a book or something like that and then tell it to the class. I memorized the story of the longest party ever and told it to the class.

34. Marvin!!!! Love him!
"I have to tell you, I'm feeling rather depressed." I love where he gets stuck in the car park for, what is it?, like 90 million years.

And my husband and I continually use the line "Something almost but not entirely unlike (fill in the blank)."
