Gift suggestions for a five year old girl
One of my neighors is a wonderful 5 year old girl. She's intelligent, curious, trusting and active. I'm having her and her parents over for a little holiday drink on Saturday and I'd like to "have Santa leave something for her under my tree". I don't want to spend a lot of money, mostly because I just met these folks and I wouldn't want them to think they had to reciprocate or anything, I just delight in giving a gift to a child whom I like very much. So, any suggestions? I was thinking a beanie baby or something. I'm not sure though what she has. She is fascinated by my cat, Pad Thai, who often goes and sits on her patio. Any Siamese cat inspired gift ideas?

1. Books!
Even the little Golden Books for $1/each. You can get a bunch of them and wrap them all together.

Books are always a great gift for a kid.

Little girls just LOVE "Hello Kitty".
My daughter still does, and she's 22.

I like miss millie's idea better...Books!

4. Hello Kitty has a vibrator?
Who knew?

Ok, either Hello Kitty or books. Last year I bought a Hello Kitty purse for the Toys for Tots and I thought it was so cute, I'll look for something like that since it's a white cat, I'll tell her Pad Thai picked it out and told Santa, or something like that.

13. Ah! you caught that before I edited it, din'tcha?
Yep, they sure did.
Not intended for consumption in the Puritan States of Murka, I'm pretty sure....

That's a great story, to tie Pad Thai into it like that!

I took a 2" tall "Hello Kitty" figurine and carved out the back to fit the curve of the headtube on a bike I'm rebuilding. I think it'll make a cool headbadge/mascot for it.

And yes, it's a bike for ME....:-)

10. You can get your 22 y.o.
a toaster that toasts the image of hello kitty on the toast. Bizarre! Maybe she could save a piece of the toast and sell it on EBay in 10 years. For better resale value, add cheese.

For the 5 y.o., books, coloring book, sticker book, little-girl hair accessories (if you think she'd use them), if she's girlie, anything pink and pretty.

If she's tom boyish, how about a soccer ball?

14. She has that already.
I'll have to tell her about selling the toast on eBay, though....Good Idea!

I went to the Sanrio store in Las Vegas last spring. Can't remember everything, but I recall all kinds of kitchen stuff with "Hello Kitty" on it. Rice cookers, the afore mentioned toaster, and I think even a microwave....

the grocery store.

They look like a coloring book but have a strip of water color paints with a brush attached to the front.

She can even do it at your house during the evening or play-doh - they always love play-doh.

9. My daughter is a Siamese cat freak too
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 12:17 PM by KyndCulture
She's a little older, but there is an awesome kids show on PBS called Sagwa the Chinese Cat... there are books, and DVDs and coloring books and plush toys of Sagwa, she's just an adorable Siamese with big blue eyes and long eyelashes... and it's educational too.

Google the show...there's tons of places to buy this stuff and it's not too pricey.

17. Art Supplies!!!
Get a gift bag or basket and fill with crayons, paper, glue, glitter, sequins, fabric samples, safety scissors, buttons, yarn. You don't have to spend a lot for a fantastic, creative gift.

Come to think of it, that's what I want!
