My new job title: Animal Tranquilizer.
Edited on Tue Dec-14-04 10:23 PM by NightTrain
Earlier tonight, I decided to kick back in bed for a bit with Air America playing on the computer. Within seconds, my roommate's pit bull, Mystique, joins me in bed, zealously licks my face, then lays down next to me, resting her head on my stomach. So I pet Mystique with my right hand.

Then Palazar, one of my roommate's two cats, decides to join us. Purring quite audibly, Palazar saddles up to my left shoulder and sits down. So I start petting the kitty with my free left hand.

Within minutes, both animals are sound asleep! All I needed to complete the scene was a newborn infant napping on my chest. Maybe someday, who knows?

1. Well, you can always borrow a baby for the next photo op!
So, the cats and the pit bull get along, huh? That breed is illegal in Denver, although the neighborhood where a friend lives he always sees them and the owners always ask him if he wants to have his dog (a boxer) fight the pit bull. Some sickos apparently have some fighting ring going on. Next time I walk Bates, and if it happens to me, I think I'll try to get some information out of these twits and then turn them in.

Oh, you were posting about a "restful" scene with pets--not at all what I posted here!

2. I had a pitbull that was raised by a cat...

Here they are when he was about 10 weeks:

The cat would eat his food (even when he was full grown). Sammy would patiently sit in back waiting his turn. He was an angel. O8)

3. Aww.... What a sweet picture!
I gotta get my hands on a camera so I can post photos of Mystique and Palazar to the Lounge.

4. They were best buds. BUT... the cat was the man in charge!
The dog learned the pecking order and respected it. There's no such thing as a bad breed. There's a lot of discrimination against pits, see above post regarding ordinances in Denver. It's horrible.

5. To clarify, I don't necessarily agree with the Denver ordinance, but if
assholes are raising them just to see them fight, then those are the guys I'd turn in.

That's one BIG cat!
