Worst Beatles song?
And I mean songs released by "The Beatles", and not under their individual names.

Revolution 9 is up there on my list of annoying Beatles songs... it's kind of interesting on first listen, but I can only stand the first couple minutes after a few listens.

I don't really like "Why don't we do it in the road?" because the blues are no good with repetitive lyrics. Period. "Yer Blues" is still kind of irritating, but it's at least got interesting lyrics.

One song that's almost universally hated by Beatles fans is "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da." I think it's one of those rare songs that's written for kind of vain purposes but comes out sounding pretty good. No one can deny that it's catchy, just the lyrics are kind of stupid :) Stupid but fun.

great song.

back when you could see her standing there and want to hold her hand.

life was simple.

and a real catchy tune, with great harmony on "yeah, yeah, yeah, YEAAAAAAAAHHHH".

I still think it's better than 'She Loves You'. BTW, did you know that 'Please, Please Me' was number 1 in Britain the day I was born?

Hardly any original material at all. Marijuana + LSD are mighty powerful drugs.

OK, I'll give them "HELP!", which is a pretty good album. But anything before that, certainly... :puke:

7. most of the stuff they gave to Ringo
is shit. I mean "What Goes On"? Oh, wait, did they write that?

Well, still if you're talking original songs, "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden" are both throwaway. But then they gave him "With a Little Help from my Friends" which redeems it all.

I also can live without the real syrupy McCartney fare, like "I Will" or "Long and Winding Road". But once again, he's the man that gave us "Eleanor Rigby" which is so amazing it still sounds like the first time every time you hear it.

Bottom line, the worst Beatles songs are probably better than a lot of groups' best ever.

11. Savoy Truffle
The Beatles

Savoy Truffle

by Unknown

Cream tangerine and montelimar,
A ginger sling with a pineapple heart,
A coffee dessert, yes you know it’s good news,
But you’ll have to have them all pulled out after the savoy truffle.
Cool cherry cream and nice apple tart,
I feel your taste all the time we’re apart,
Coconut fudge really blows down those blues,
But you’ll have to have them all pulled out after the savoy truffle.
You might not feel it now
But when the pain cuts through you’re going to know, and how.
The sweat is gonna fill your head,
When it becomes too much you’ll shout aloud,
But you’ll have to have them all pulled out after the savoy truffle.
Know that what you eat you are,
But what is sweet now turns so sour.
We all know ob-la-di-bla-da,
But can you show me where you are.
Cream tangerine and montelimar,
A ginger sling with a pineapple heart,
A coffee dessert, yes you know it’s good news,
But you’ll have to have them all pulled out after the savoy truffle.
Yes you’ll have to have them all pulled out after the savoy truffle.

26. I think it's hurt by its placement on the White Album
It follows "Honey Pie" and precedes "Cry Baby Cry", both of which are certainly unusual Beatles songs. I'd say that Cry Baby Cry is an excellent and underappreciated step into baroque blues/pop by Lennon. Honey Pie is just ... weird and when I first listened to White Album I was thinking more about how fucked up the Beatles doing do-wop is rather than listening to Savoy Truffle.

When I listened to it again, I realized that the song was pretty good (but not great). It only reminded me of how much I really like George Harrison's writing, and how much of a shame it was that Paul + John put him on such a leash for much of the Beatles' life.

21. Why do you say that?
I've been interested for a pretty long time about why people dislike Yellow Submarine so much. You do know the Beatles had an inside-joke obsession with submarines, right?

They were planning on recording what eventually became Abbey Road (or maybe Let It Be/whatever it was originally to be called) in a surprise live show on top of a submarine. I thought the idea was pretty funny myself when I first heard it.

Johnny was a schoolboy when he heard the worst Beatle song,
'Love me do,' I think it was. From there it didn't take him long.
Got himself a guitar, used to play every night,
Now he's in a rock 'n' roll outfit,

And everything's all right, don't you know?
