17. Unfortunately no!
I'm still here. It was just raining this morning! I quit watching the local news in the morning-- it pissed me off too much. But in the process, I've been missing the weather reports too!

Think I'm gonna do the remote thing tomorrow. But still have to drive in to go to my JC meeting. (That would be Jenny Craig-- not the other JC!).

7. Don't rake!
Run a mulching mower over it, errr, when the snow's gone. It's better for your lawn.

12. I don't have a mulching mower.
I used to, but it died and I bought a manual one for the sake of the air pollution. No emissions that way! I suspect leaves would choke it up though. :(

19. I use the grass catcher on my electric lawn mower, and then dump
all the leaves in my big ol honkin compost pile. With my tree, you can believe I have lots of leaves

my front yard tree, trying really hard to be a red oak instead of drab goldy brown.

We only get good color if we have a shocking temp drop in early October, then it flames big time. But we love it in the summer !!!!

22. oh we love our tree. It is part of the reason we decided to make
an offer on this house. One of the nicest things about this part of FW is that it has old trees. Very shady neighborhood.

Thank you for the compliment

These mofos can't drive when it's icy. When it's icy, Dallas gets dicey.

29. I'll say.
Believe it or not, Austin drivers are worse, and Houston drivers are relatively insane as well. I have driven among them! Aaaiieee!!

I can't believe that anybody motorcycles down here, but they do. Drivers don't shoulder check around these parts, and that is death to the motorcycle enthusiast.

Squish!

21. ain't that the truth!!!!
Even in Nashville, where winter can sometimes arrive with a vengance, they just get absolutely silly ..they all think their big butt pickups and 4 wheel drive offer them some sort of divine protection.

HAHA when I was driving up there, I had an old VW Beetle, w/rear engine, and I kept concrete blocks in the front trunk and carried a couple of 20 pound bags of kitty litter as well. Man, I could get just about anywhere.

And Nashville has all those hills!!! Talk about wild, having to stop for a red light three cars back, sliding down the slope, hoping some ass wouldn't come barreling along and send you into the other lane.

28. 4x4 invincibility is not exclusively Southern.
Even in the wilds of Canada, yuppies believe that God grants divine protection to 4x4 drivers.

Typically you see these drivers in multi-car pile-ups on off-ramps and various freeways.

It fucking cold as hell frozen over here in MO, with not an inch of snow on the ground. Its so cold that I don't even think the snow will stick, I hate this type of weather!

18. sure is pretty isn't it, plus the added benefit that the mountain
cedar pollen is being blown back to Austin and the Hill country where it belongs. Maybe my eyes will stop itching and I will stop sneezing for a few days.

I never thought I would live to see the day my worst allergy season would be winter!!!

LOL back in my Kentucky days, it was mid August to late October, and I was miserable.

I was out in it a while ago, had to go stock up you know.

Actually my daughter and her friend and I developed a craving for old fashioned breakfast, so I went over to Braum's (which was almost empty) to get some bacon and sausage. By the way, it was a good brunch.

as of now it is still snowing in FW, so Dallas, you can expect to get more for a while anyway

23. Here's a trick for Cedar Fever
I know a couple of people who use it and they say it works.

Gather the Juniper berries (they're not really cedar trees) and eat them. My friend puts them in Gin and then uses them as a seasoning on pork, etc.

She says it works on her allergies like a charm. It's the same premise, I guess, as taking allergy shots.

31. They might have them in the Botanic Gardens not sure
I've never been to the one in Dallas. They do have them at the one in SA.

If not, they will at the State Parks. Is Cleburne State Park near you? I've seen them there before.
