WoooHoooo Power back on here finally! Good and bad news-need hugs
Well, I have been without power since Thursday and things have been a mess.

Mom lives next door and just got out of the hospital a week ago after 5 weeks in ICU. Today she went back in. We were living off a generator for heat and to keep the fridge and a few lights going.

My wife is in CA with my daughter for christmas at the in-laws. I would have went but elected to stay here and help mom and dad given all that has happened. I am alone, cold (house is slowly heating up, it is 1 degree out right not), many HUGE branches collapsed from my chinese elm the other night and lay across the power line, damaged gutters, and is a huge mess in front and back. I am tired from lack of good sleep but hoping the beerum does the trick tonight (1/2 glass rum 1/2 beer).

Did a lot of crying last few days. Worried about mom (and dad), miss the wife and daughter, and was depressed in the cold dark and not sure when power would ever get back on.

But now I am here, finally, spending a christmas morning online for work on one PC and at DU on the other while I try to fix my sun server.

(BTW - Location, East side of Columbus, Ohio). Merry Christmas to all!)

What has happened? Ice storm?

Sounds like you've had a bad holiday!

3. We had an ice storm Thursday
Things were looking bad, I went to bed at 5am and woke up cold with no power. 400,000 plus in Ohio were without power. Some they said would not have it back on until Sunday night, which I figured meant me. I was over at mom's sleeping when the power came back on.

I rushed home, hooked up my systems, kicked on the heat, and am hoping the power stays kicking.

7. Oh gosh, where have I been?!? Sorry to hear it.
I have a bunch of relatives in Columbus but haven't heard from them since last Saturday. Makes me wonder how they're doing. Have another friend of a relative who is driving to Indiana from Virginia tonight. Wonder how they're doing now.

Hope your mother gets through this. I know how it is with a critically ill mother. She's probably in the best place right now with the power as unstable as it is right now in your area and the lack of heat. Hospitals have generators, too, for emergencies like this. I pray for a speedy recovery for her.

I have relatives in Bexley, up around OU and in Upper Arlington, I'll have to call later and see how they all are.

Sorry you had such a crappy few days, especially being alone and cold.
