what happened that it needs to wear that?

one of my cats had to wear one after having a golf-ball sized abcess drained on her face, and she hated it so much....

I was just looking for a sexy example of a cat cone and found this on Google. ;)

Seriously, it's torture to watch a poor cat or dog suffer through confinement to one of these things. We had a sweet little guy who developed cancer at 14 and had to wear one of these AND a nasal gastric feeding tube. It was so painful to see him reduced so low.

6. yeah, but really neccessary
once our cat did manage to get out of her cat cone and scratched at the incision site til it was a nasty mess. once was just a minor setback, but if she hadn't had the cone, and kept doing it... oh well. long over now fortunatly.
