My apologies to Ewan McGregor fans, and I know that DU has it share of them (please don't feel compelled to post photos of him in his underpants).

BUT...if it's a choice between a "rumored" McGregor as Bond and Pierce Brosnan, I'll take Brosnan. Just my humble opinion, respecting all others.

Brosnan Back for Bond?
Posted by RT-News on Tuesday, Jan. 04, 2005, 02:26 PM

RT-News writes: "Pierce Brosnan may be back for the next James Bond movie, according to Dark Horizons. David Black, in the latest newsletter of the James Bond International Fan Club, says not to rule out Brosnan, who indicated last year that series producers were looking for another actor to replace him. Black says there are rumors of further negotiations between the parties. The next James Bond film is due in 2006."

1. YAY!! Brosnan is EXCELLENT as Bond!
I love him! Good to know he's coming back, maybe.

And if not Brosnan, maybe John Goodman. Or Julia Roberts.

4. Anyone except Ewan McGregor.
"Moulin Rouge" KILLED any "appreciation" I could, would, or should have had for the "actor."

"Looooove is a many splendored thing, all you need is looooove"....that little speech to Nicole Kidman STILL makes my skin crawl.

SHIT!

It made me want to cut out my own spleen with a Swiss Army knife.

And yes, I have seen the underpants photos, for anyone who feels that they show McGregor's "talent" to its best advantage. That's not "talent." It's "underpants."

11. Well, it just shows to go ya...how different
perceptions of Moulin Rouge prevaded the Planet. I own Moulin Rouge and think its a wonderful, campy, love story..and adored all the modern songs they incorporated to Bohemian life in Paris at the turn of the 19th century.

It doesn't bother me one twit if someone else doesn't like it..I know enough people who do. :D

3. I just don't think that the scripts have been the right roll for him.
I see him as more of a subtle sabotage and assassin James Bond than the flashy stunt-Bond he's been thus far.

I just wish they could get a really good script instead of the tired old "secret society run by a madman trying to destroy the world" formula that they've drawn off of for friggin' ever.

Isn't there a madman out there that might NOT want to destroy the world. Possibly Bond could go after Asian child prostitution ring or maybe a genocidal dictator from Africa.

Oh! How about Bond going after an international serial killer that turns out to be a member of the Royal Family! Now THAT'S intregue!

6. Well, the madman out to destroy the world offers more opportunities...
...for things to blow up REAL good, as they would say on Farm Film Report.

I can't even watch "Tomorrow Never Dies," because Jonathan Pryce...the "Infiniti" car whore and resident "madman trying to destroy the world" in that flick...has got to be the WORST...BOND...VILLAIN...EVER.

You're right, he needs better scripts. Brosnan is closer to the "Connery Concept" than Moore. Dalton had promise in "License To Kill" (but I thought "License To Kill" was incoherent).

10. Yes, Dalton was just all wrong, but it wasn't his fault.
Great actor, as is Brosnin, but Dalton is not the type of guy like Brosnin you can just sit there and wish you just looked like him, forget all of the Bond stuff.

I just wish there could be a little more sinister side to Bond. He's an assassin for godsake! That has to just mentally mess you up at some point.

7. Or perhaps he saves the world by helping INTERPOL capture
and bring Shrubbie McAWOLFuckWad to the Hague!

I agree with you on the scripts - they haven't been as awesome as they could be, and we are getting a lot of mastermind takes over the world crap. Though I have appreciated the better and more interesting role that women have played, and also the better relationships he's had with the women in the movies.

And I really could do with never seeing another movie that's based on "Holy shit they stole a nuclear bomb!"

8. I haven't liked "Bond" pictures since Sean Connery..
It's the writing.."stupid"! I feel an actor as fascinating as Pierce Brosnon is wasting all our times in flimsy scritps that they put out for 007.

Count me as one of McGregor's biggest fans but I don't want him in Bondage, either.
