Have you ever noticed how whenever * is speaking he always says "In other words" or "lemme explain what I mean". What, did he think he just wowed his audience with his literary prowess or something? Slow it down for me George, I can't follow all of those big words you're using. It drives me CRAZY!!! :crazy: Is it just me that's noticed this??
I think Lakoff would explain this behavior as part of the "Strong Father" syndrome. He speaks to us as children because he is the "strong father" who knows what's good for us and is taking us by the hand.
Another explanation is that he is developing his own language. That is, he is defining the issues IN HIS LANGUAGE and enjoins us to learn his language and hence, his way of thinking.
7. my fave: when he explained to us what "red ink" meant, in that
powerhouse press conference last week. "In other words..." Oh, GAG ME. I don't mind when someone brighter than I am talks down to me, but the mental midget-in-chief?
