Can you be physically attracted to someone you've never even seen?

I see what appears to be Lounge romances springing up from time to time. Just wondering if physical attraction plays any part of this. I guess physical attraction can be equated to "chemistry."

I would say the mental attraction was very strong before meeting, and now the physical matches it, to say the very least. :evilgrin:

For me, mental/physical attractiveness is all mixed up together. Can't do one without the other.

But--do you mean never seen in real life (we have the gallery here), or never seen at all?

If you've you've never seen the person, it's only a mental/emotional attration. I've never been attracted in any way to anyone without seeing them and being able to talk with them in person first.

I have liked someone around here for quite awhile. We liked each other before we knew what the other looked like. Sometimes I think if we were ever to finally get ourselves together after all our vast indefinableness together and be more public, given a certain element of his reputation, people will think he's with me for superficial reasons only. That fact of the matter is our ability to understand one another was there first before he or anyone else on DU knew what I looked like (maybe a big part of why I like the man as much as I do). He is one built piece of man himself, although much more private. A strong physical attraction is simply a nice bonus to other things that attract people to each other.

I believe the mental connection is ultimately what makes attraction real. So yes, you can feel that way about someone before actually being face to face. Of course, the face to face thing is the last test but if you connect mentally it should all fall into place. When you break that hurdle -- IT'S ALL GOOD!! :bounce:

In the more or less the same way - I expect - I use my imagination.

and then I saw him, and I was like...whoa...better than I imagined! :D

Even just chatting with someone online I can either feel an attraction or not. The online communication doesn't have to be sexual nature, at least not to start. The meeting face to face just seals the deal so to speak.
