10. Thank you...
I was a borderline dyslexic as a child and have dealt with serious issues regarding stuttering, and social-phobia...

I take any attacks on my verbal abilities VERY seriously...

36. honestly, when people try and put others down for those reasons
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 11:02 PM by meppie-meppie not
it's not only petty but more often than not they feel they're losing their footing in the discussion. Also, in fast paced discussions spell checking or worrying about how things come out isn't our first priority, the ideas are what count. Hell, you can always tell when I've undergone chemo because everything is spelled as it sounds and grammar, WTF is that?

I got three responses the other night that my spelling ability's were "impaired" and I'm sick of it!

I don't think it's funny at all!

I don't take it personally, you shouldn't either. When people can't attack your ideas or beliefs, they'll find any reason to bring you butt down.

38. I am a terrible speller
and I have a really healthy IQ. I will bet you do too. I don't feel embarrassed anymore and I don't take crap from people about it. If someone wants to help you and they are genuine they will PM you.
If they feel the need to do it on the thread, tell them to get over themselves. Spelling really is not that big a deal. That's what they make spell check for.

8. What a looser! Spelling error's are terrible!
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 08:58 PM by tjdee
On edit:

Longgrain, I've never found your spelling to be poor--those people are being unnessarily anal. On a message board it is inevitable that there will be spelling errors, grammar errors, etc. Sometimes I can't suppress my anality, but that's my problem, not yours.

Unless you spell loser looser and start putting apostrophes on plurals--then I'm coming to get you!

But I've cooled down now...

I just take it personally when people critique me for my spelling and grammer...

they think it's oh so funny...

but I can tell you from experience, It's not funny to have had to have spent years, as an adolescent, in a psychiatric ward, just because you couldn't talk to people...

Deep breath!

I'm calm now...

20. Seriously
Grammar, spelling and typing errors happen. It doesn't bother me. However, if I were a person who does proof reading for a living it would.

So long as the criticism given to my errors is in a friendly fashion, I really don’t mind.

*hits spell check* ;)

25. Absolutely not.
Especially when there's a 'Check Spelling' button right below the message box. How lazy can people be? Too eager to get your post-count up that you can't take a second to check your disgraceful excuse for spelling?

You horrible internet spellers sicken me.

Savages, ALL!

32. Then copy/past your message into MS Word...
and run the spell check there. Then copy/paste the corrected version back into the message box. Problem solved! :)

You also have to be smart when reviewing the words that the DU spell check things might be wrong. Sometimes it thinks correct spelling is wrong, and so you have to be smart about that as well. :)

It's tough work! But it's rewarding to the soul. :D

Well, actually, I was first runner-up for the entire school when I was only twelve. ;-)

But, good and proper spelling is important to us all! Always keep copies of the dictionary and thesaurus handy!
