Who are you?
I'm a book loving, punk rocker who loves Marilyn Manson, Disney movies, musicals and board games.

I can sing 'The Bad Touch' by The Bloodhound Gang all the way through and then go right into 'I'll Be Seeing You' by Billie Holiday.

I love to climb trees and play video games, but I'm a afraid of spiders and snakes.

I'm a writer/poet, a Lord of the Rings nerd, and a wanna be belly dancer with a passion politics.

So, who are you?

description, btw

I am a book loving, punk rocker who loves the Clash, crossword puzzles, logic problems and board games.

I know all the words to Thunder Road and love Olympic trivia. I was a competitive gymnast.

I have a passion for the political history and the plight of the people of Central America.

I love to laugh.

On edit: I forgot to add that I love beat poetry. I know it's weird but, I do. Kerouac, Ezra Pound, ...meh

a competitive gymnast? Thats cool! I wanted to do that when I was little, but there wasn't a good place to learn around me, which is for the best probably, since I'm too tall to be one. LOL :D

a very good friend of mine was his partner for 40 years. He was, from what I understand a very well know author and has written about Pound. He just died last week. If you do a search of the New York Times archives, his obit and an article were in there on the 4th or 5th of January. That's why I thought you might have heard of him. You would probably enjoy his writing.

3. Dear Mr. Vernon,

We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out, is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basketcase, a princess, and a criminal. Does that answer your question?

Sincerely yours,
The Breakfast Club.

5. Here's my profile from MySpace:
I’m 36. I’m a non-profit development professional. I’m also a musician and a writer. My husband, a stay-at-home-dad by day and performer by night, is one of the best drummer’s in New York City. Together we run a small recording business in Brooklyn as well as raise our new baby boy (our first and only), Garrison.

I’m a hardcore leftist. I’m very politically active, writing articles, editorials, speaking at local democratic clubs, and participating in various actions. I’m also a long-time member of Democratic Underground.

I was raised on horror movies. My childhood home was virtual a horror and occult memorabilia museum. When I was 4 years old my father got me out of bed and sat me in front of the TV. Night of the Living Dead was airing on Chicago UHF Channel 44. My dad said, “This is history.” Though other interests have kept me from remaining as up-to-date on the genre as I had been as a teen and younger adult, I still consider myself to be an aficionado.

Other than the birth of my son, the single most powerful event of my life was a terrible car accident which took place a day before my husband and I were married. My husband’s brother was driving me home when a girl struck us at about 70 miles per hour, plowing directly into the passenger side, compressing my seat into a 4-inch space. I lost the baby I was carrying and had multiple fractures on the right side of my body. We decided to go on with the wedding and I was married in my hospital bed which had been wheeled into the orthopedic gym at Stony Brook University Hospital. We spent our honeymoon in a rehabilitation center. I was given a private room, dubbed “The Honeymoon Suite.” And my husband helped me learn the skills I needed to get around in a wheelchair.

I was very fortunate to progress from wheelchair, to walker, to crutches. I was using a cane when I got pregnant with our son. We thought I’d be on bed rest during my third trimester, but instead, I ditched the cane and walked and worked up until the very day before our son was born.

This year my goal is to be able to run a fast mile and jump on a trampoline.

11. I'm an enigma wrapped around a mystery
I'm a man in my late 40's who loves old movies, an eclectic mix of music(jazz to punk), a loner who is religious in my own way and a history buff.

I like wine, women and song. Anything cultural and involved in the arts is my thing too. I have no fears and nothing fears me.

I love life and it's gifts...

Most of all though, I'm puzzle, a person to figure out...

13. Who am I?
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 08:19 PM by EstimatedProphet
I am a Deadhead (hence the username). I like to read (seems like a common trait here), I like classis rock music-especialy the late 60's San Francisco bands, I like science fiction and Lord of the Rings (but not into other fantasy anymore). I like to drink and mix drinks. I don't get out of control.

I am a professional fishery biologist. I have my doctorate. However, I no longer have a job (I will again). Even though I am a fishery biologist, I can't swim. I'm not bothered by insects but spiders make my skin crawl.

I used to saber fence competitively, and studied aikido and katana swordwork. I hope to again-in rural Georgia no one has heard of these things.

I am a lifelong Democrat. There is no worse insult to me than to call me a Republican.

I can no longer put into words how much I hate this administration and what it is doing. Double for the blind followers of this administration-it isn't possible to find a meaner bunch of people.

I have a large collection of books...I don't know much about punk, but I love folk-rock (Dylan is still my fave)...

I actually love Disney and have a thing for Musicals (Man of LaMancha is my top choice...) and I'm a huge Monopoly fan...

I can sing the 'Zoom' theme all the way through, and while I'm not much of a musical person...I can recite most of Allen Ginsburg's "Howl" by heart...

I love nature, and I'm not too afraid of animals...

I'm a writer/ poet/ artist, and a big LOTR nerd (as well as Star Wars)...

And I like belly dancers...

29. When The Clash first met up
with beat poet Allen Ginsberg in '81, Joe asked "Well Ginsberg, when you gonna run for president?" The response was, Never, or I'll wind up in Diamond Hell," a weird Bhuddist allusion

He does a recording with them on combat rock. I told you once already that Joe Strummer was a hippie - he disguised his beat poetry as punk rock lyrics and history was made....

20. Me?
I'm a sci-fi geek, R.E.M. fan who thinks the Ramones invented punk and not some assholes in Britain; is an amateur historian, and dispises first person shoot-em-up video games.

I can play the lead to The One I Love, Driver 8, and Green Grow the Rushes, and can almost be brought to tears by Wendell Gee.

I like to run till my legs are rubber and the only thing I can think is a repetitive "I'm-a-machine-I'm-a-machine-I'm-a-machine" over and over in my head with each stride.

I write stories I let no one read and paint pictures my friends hang in their living rooms. I think 95% of what I've been told throughout my life by authority figures and those who consider themselves an authority to be wholly and completely wrong and find that philosophy confirmed every fucking day.

I am a devout agnostic and consider any code of behaviour that is designed outside our own sense of right and wrong to be dangerous and subject to manipulation by those who have their own agenda. I think the Ten Commandments aren't good enough for me (not one mention of slavery? war? indifference?) and if you haven't figured it out by the time you are seven, you never will.

with some wonderful answers.

Who am I?

I am a stay at home Mom who adores her two children.

I mystery shop to supplement our household income. I have been mystery shopping for about 18 years.

I love music - everything from The Beatles to John Pizzerelli to Cowboy Mouth.

I adore movies, especially those that showcase the talents of John Cusack.

I am a hard core democrat who abhors *.

I am a big fan of couponing and have not paid more than $500 in any year for groceries. (not in the last five years anyway!)

32. Who am I?
I am a crystal and mineral seller, who is also a Reiki Master. My work is a labor of love. My customers are some of the most special people on this planet. :)

I love to play with cameras, play with my flute and play with computers. I love good independent movies, suspense and metaphysical novels, meditation and healing music, U2 and old standards. Hearing well played, live music always makes me cry for joy. Although I don't do it as well as I wish, I love to sing!

I love my sunset mountain views, and living where I do. Being within nature and having wildlife nearby soothes me. I love that five minutes from this idyllic setting is a Barnes and Noble.

I also love having my city an hour away, my original home. It is Oz at night, controlled chaos during the day, and always exciting!

I am Mom to two wonderful teenage boys that I am trying to protect from being fodder for the Sociopath and his fellow Lunatics. They keep me young and are constant reminders of my own youth. Poor kids have a hard time rebelling against me. :)

Then there is my Amy, my beautiful dark gray pussycat who acts like she's royalty, and is my pal.

I love winter water views, planting my tiny garden in the spring, and miniature veggie garden on my deck.

I believe that there are no accidents, and know that the destination isn't of importance but that the journey is paramount. I believe that we live in a multidimensional Universe and yes there is "the other side". That our lives in this dimension has been all planned out, and what is of importance is what we have learned from our lessons here.

I have been blessed with lots of love in my life, and know that real love has to be unconditional.

48. Who am I? I am complicated. I am a simple man.
I am a 43 year old male, married for the second time, happily for the first, and am the father of 2 beautiful kids, ages 6 & 4.

I write software for a living, but am torn because my software is used in the defense industry to build things that kill people.

I am a lifelong Democrat, but voted independent in 1980 for John Anderson.

I have an undergrad in Management Information Systems. I have a Masters Degree in English and creative writing.

I worry very little about spelling and grammar whilst on the Internets.

I live in the Milwaukee area, but was born and raised in Chicago and moved here at 25. I don't miss Chicago.

I've spent time in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Detroit, Washington D.C., Long Island, Florida, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Nashville, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, and Minneapolis. I liked San Francisco the best. I will never move again.

I don't particularly like computer games.

The first book I can remember reading was "Go Dog Go" by P.D.Eastman. I still read it to/with my kids.

My favorite breakfast is Mountain Dew and a 3 pack of Ho Ho's.

I still believe the Cubs will win a world series in my life time.

When The Fifth Element comes on cable, I cannot turn it off. Same goes for That Thing You Do, El Dorado, In Harms Way, League of Their Own, Doc Hollywood, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, Ocean's 11 (1961), and The Postman, to name a few.

I have 1/2 a novel in the drawer, and have published poetry and short stories, but haven't written a thing in 9 or 10 years. I wrote more and better when I was miserable. I don't like being miserable.

I am not really scared of anything, but I am not brave. Okay, spiders give me the willies...

I miss my Grandparents and wish they could have met my children.

I used to have long hair, but now I don't. I used to wear multiple earings, now I don't. I used to wear leather pants, now I don't. I used to have a tatoo, now I have two.

I used to play guitar in rock bands, and once owned over 20 guitars, but now I own only one, the first one I ever owned. I haven't played it in years.

I write a quarterly article for a Railroad Historical Society.

I have never thought of myself as very good looking. I have always thought my wife was the most beautiful woman I had ever met.

I used to drink too much, now I don't drink at all.

I used to read poetry and fiction voraciously, now I don't.

I used to do drugs, now I don't.

There are no naked pictures of me on the Internet. Really.

I used to love fishing, but not so much anymore.

I have never hunted nor owned a gun. I once won an award from the NRA for my shooting skills, while a teenager, and in boy scouts.

I love collecting 1950's stuff. My house is all vintage.

I never believed in God. I am not religious. I am spiritual.

I own 2 1958 Oldsmobiles. Neither of them runs. They are art.

I was once president of my neighborhood association.

I used to restore vintage jukeboxes and pinball machines for fun and profit, now I don't.

I prefer vinyl LP's to anything digital.

I own a vacuum tube tester and have used it.

I love railroads and railroading, and regret not working for one when I was younger.

I am building an HO model railroad empire in my basement.

I still miss my dog who died 2 years ago. She was wolf, lab, pit and shepherd. Her name was Nikita.

51. Crack Whore...
I enjoy long walks in dark alley's, sharp objects and the color black. I hate people (yes, that includes you) and strive for worldwide legalization of crack. (No, not marijuana...just crack)

I am human.

I read. I sing. I play guitar. I write. I think.

I listen to Tool,Metallica(pre-haircut), and anything that makes me want to cry.

I'm obsessed with Albert Camus, Sartre, and Simone De Beauvoir.

I hate chocolate.
I love salsa.

I'm afraid of rejection.
I've never been rejected.

I'm playing with my new delay pedal right now...

56. I'm a ...
Little girl at heart with a great love for all things classic - especially old music (Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald), TV shows (The Honeymooners) and movies (anything with Paul Newman :9).

An only child, I grew up on a farm in my own little imaginative world full of friends only I could see. Today, I'm a young woman with a strong work ethic, a fear of clowns and a great love for our country ... which is why I'm so damn pissed.

57. who are who are who are who are who are who...
duh duh duh dee duh duh duh-duh-duh-duh..

I'm a book writing, sword swinging, music lover, who loves giant monster movies and Fairly Oddparents.

I can sing every song ever recorded by The Who, The Dead Kenndy's, and Gwar. My favorite piece of music if Beethoven's 9th Symphony. My favorite album is Tommy.

I fear nothing. And have an odd fascination with Japanese war attrocities and genocide (it's what I write about). I spend my days writing telecommunications training courses.

I'm a dad and a husband, a big brother and a son. I'm a cook and a laborer. I like creating flower gardens. I'm a mod.

60. I'm the leader of the free world....
I'm convinced that God himself elected me to the presidency with a mandate from the people.

I can't make a coherent sentence to save my life.

I tend to confuse the words "killing civilians" with "liberation"

I'm arrogant and incompetent, and will never admit when I've made a mistake.

...oh, wait that's not me.....}(

62. My Family Has Owned/Operated A Small B&B For 3 Generations
in the "Hamptons". So Summers are really busy and Winters leave me plenty of time to pursue such interests as:

Collage/Book/Paper Arts
Cloth Doll Sculpture

Quite a bit of my life has been devoted to studying the Kabbala within the group, Builders of the Adytum. I am a memeber of the NYC Pronaos.

It's been a while, but I practise Tai Chi, sword form and short form.

Indian Cuisine is my favorite food to eat and Key Lime Pie is my favorite dessert.

The veggie garden out back provides me with fresh produce and exercise and peace.

The ocean is down the street and that's where I saw a Whimbrel this past summer.

I like lots of different musical genres but favorite bands are ususally those who know how to utilize silence in their work.

Democratic Underground means a great deal to me, the place and the people.

Lastly, but most importantly, I exist to serve two 3 year old kitties, Felix and Trixie.

Oh, I'm a short 42 year old Scorpio female with long brown hair and dimples.

63. I'm a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother. I'm a woman.
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 01:05 PM by loudestchick
I was adopted by my parents when I was 3mo old. My older brother is/was violent and aggressive. My parents were/are more concerned with how things "look" than how things "are".
I learned that I wanted to value real things and to question the reality of everything. I'm the only progressive in my family and the only one without a pathological belief in a "father" god.
I have three amazing children...the oldest of whom is so much like me, I'm sometimes afraid for her. My husband and I work everyday to make our marriage and home a good place for our children and each other.
I feel an extreme amount of responsibility toward people I've never met...that everyone deserves the opportunity to have a decent future...especially children.
