2. My condolances
I lost my stepfather this last September. He also had Alzheimer's. In a way, it was a relief, but it was still sad, especially for my mother.

5. My condolences on the loss of your grandma
Alzheimers is very tough on the survivors since you know she is no longer suffering...but it is no less of a loss for you.

Normally I don't like "____ died" threads, but I can understand what your going through with this one. My grandmother is currently dieing of alzhiemers, and my grandfather died taking care of her.

10. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Hugs!

My dad has Wernecke-Korsacoff's Syndrome (probably did not spell that right). They call it Alzheimer's when they can directly identify a specific cause. In my dad's case, the deterioration was from his 50 years of drinkin' like a fish, and everyone knew it.

Now, he is 76, and is in the state where he just grunts and, of course, he does not recognize anyone. He has been in a lockdown type of nursing home for 7 years now. Frankly, none of his doctors have any idea why he's still kickin' But, I made my peace with it a long time ago, as I'm sure you have.

Thank God she went peacefully. May her energy be around to protect you always, freed from any constraints of a broken body. Comfort and peace to you!

Ma'at

22. I am so very sorry!
I also lost my grandmother, six years ago, and I miss her each and every day. My Nana had a real fear of contracting Alzheimer's, and when she reached 90, I kept telling her that this was not likely for her. However, she continued to worry, and even joined an Alzheimer's support group, even though she was the only one in it who didn't have an Alzheimer's patient in their family. *sigh* My heart goes out to you and your family. I am glad that it was peaceful, but it still leaves a great hole.;(
