Can I rant?
I'm so pissed off, I hate it that I get my paycheck from UPS and then look at all the money they take out for shit. Money I will never have the HOPE of seeing again!

No one from my generation will see that money again, because that money they take for Social Security is going to be used to pay for the baby boomer's. It pisses me off! Not that the baby boomer's get it, my mom is a baby boomer, as was my dad, but it pisses me off that the Bush Admin and basically all politicians have fucked it up so bad!

Even if I would see that money again when I'm old, I could use that money NOW! You dirty fucks GIVE ME MY MONEY!

:(

4. Frankly, I think you're being selfish.
Do you feel contempt and disgust toward right-wingers who complain about having to pay taxes so their money "can to go welfare queens?" Sorry to say, that's just what your little rant reminded me of.

7. At first that's what I thought too...
But now I kinda think that he means that the money they do take out is pretty much being squandered instead of put to worthwhile uses. I dunno, I could be wrong, his post was pretty vague in that respect.

10. Thats not exactly what I meant.
If they can promise my money is going to help people like welfare moms or for things like that, that is a whole other thing.

but if they're taking money out for "my future" why can't I have it now? And use to pay rent, or car insurance or something like that?

What exactly is "State Pension"? And what is it for?

Maybe I have it all backwards and it does go to people who really, really need it.

11. Social Security goes into a separate fund.
Your payroll tax deduction goes into that fund, which is then used to pay benefits to the elderly and disabled. SS is an insurance program. Before FDR created it during the Depression, a lot of old people, especially the widows of low income men, ended up destitute. So, yes, it is paid to people who need it. Sometimes it's all they have to live on.

6. Been swallowing the Bush Regime's propaganda, have you?
They are wrong, of course. Even under the worst case scenario, Social Security will be solvent for the next 50 years. If Bush doesn't get his way and privatize it, there is no reason why you should worry about getting benefits in the future. Don't believe what the Bushies are telling you. Believe Paul Krugman instead.

8. but the baby boomers have been paying for 20-30 years or so more than
you have. imagine how you'd feel if you've been paying in that long. it truly sucks, but less so for you than a lot of people. i'm going to have to move to europe to retire!

9. I'm a boomer (b. 1951)
and I have paid more into the system than I will ever get back. The ones I worry about are my two sons, (8 and 11).

12. I'm much more pissed about the money I spent on Armstrong Williams.
And paying for Georgie Bush to sit his ass in the White House. And I wonder how much of my money paid for the bombs that have dropped in Iraq.

But that's just me.

There is so much useless spending, and instead of worrying about SS they need to worry about why so much is taken out of everyone's check yet we're STILL managing to be in a deficit (thanks George!).

13. I never look at it as "my money"
I work like everyone else, and that money can go to hell for all I care. Life is more than about money.
