We are witnessing the end of a historical era

In US history, as I have said I do hold a degree, and and was thinking about it
The Nixon Administration started the cycle of dominance of the Right an the GOP. Watergate
bought some time for the Johnson Democrats, but not by much.

When Carter was voted out, the true Republican Revolution started, and like all cycles it went on the ascendant, to the point that Clinton could have and has been called by some the best
Republican President in modern US Politics (and as a member of the DLC and the Third way he
was pushing policies that were on the center)

Today we are seeing the end of this era of US History, we are living through history. The scandal now enveloping the white house has many parallels to the scandal that started it all. It has been an era full of scandals, mostly on the GOP side, as in really serious scandals. It started with Watergate, went on to Iran-Contra, and will end in Leakgate.

Impeachment is a poliitical act hence I do not expect the GOP to eat their own, but in that abuse of
power the GOP (or at least the extreme right now in charge) is outing itself to most Americans for what it is. People are not dumb and yes it took National Security for the People to finally realize that somethign was very wrong in DC.

Expect many twists and turns, in the comming months... will Libby be turned to the DoJ? (fingers pointed in that direction and the office of the VEEP today), or will this go on and on into a national nightmare not unlike Watergate? If the boy who wanted to be Emperor had any personal ethics, he would do that, but somehow I do not see that in the cards.

The chinese do have a curse, and it seems we have been collectively cursed... may yuo live in interesting times.

I was thinking the other day how the average Joe has no idea of the connected underground of criticism and expose of an evil regime that has been going on while he shops at Wal-Mart and watches "reality" TV--a coup for all intents and purposes by fascists is getting nipped in the bud.

from within the U.S. will be controlled by MS and a league of co-conspirators - a "coalition of the willing" in other words. You'll start hearing a lot about this beginning in 2005. The idea will be sold to the public as something necessary for national security. The internet will become increasingly privatised and access to it will be controlled and monitored by anyone capable of doing it (i.e. MS) at the behest of the government.
This initiative goes hand-in-glove with the land grab going on all around us, right now, in which public domain properties are being effectively stolen from the public by technological means. People need to wake up, right now, to the fact that corporations are finding theft of public property an irresistible, practicable, and enormously profitable course of action.

The reason Bush appeals to conservatives is because their core values are conservative traditionalism. I don't think that conservative Americans will suddenly change their core ideals and become more liberal or tolerant because of the many bush follies, and given another chance to vote for a conservative equivalent of Bush, they will. (For example, Clark's centrism makes him appealing to disaffected conservative Republicans, I am sure, but sooner or later they will realize he is pro-choice, and they may desire to vote for someone more conservative in that realm.)

I disagree with you here...you are about to see the GOP eating their own...someone will take the fall for the top 6 in the administration...and I pity the poor guy or gal.

As to the "curse" thing? Well yeah, the "Norm" is gone, what is yet to be determined (as far as Life goes on) is what makes it scary.
