Gay Bratz

Probably the most different game I have ever been begged into playing with my daughter.

She said come on, we're playing gay Bratz.

Eh? (Bratz are kind of scary looking Barbies. They look like this:)



Giant heads, tiny bodies. I fought the invasion of Bratz in my home for a while, but on her last birthday her friends bought her about 50 of the things.

So anyway, we just had a big drama with Miko and Gabriella and their lesbian wedding. Gabriella got cold feet at the last minute and Miko's dad wasn't handling the whole thing very well. Miko had to have it out with him a bit.

The couple ended up having such a bad fight at one point, that Miko head butted Gabriella. They made up, though, and were married and lived happily ever after.

My daughter was cracking me up. She was Gabriella and the last thing she had her say was "Come on Miko, let's go see a movie."

What's the most interesting or different game you've ever played with a kid?

By the way, I asked her why it was gay Bratz and she looked at me like I was crazy and said "There are NO boy Bratz! Plus, they love each other!"

But I wasn't sure how good my doll gaydar was.

Now Ken, I have ALWAYS known about. Ken is so gay.

He came out of the closet a couple years ago.

I mean I just assumed he was, but who knows...

I checked out Ken's groceries and discovered he had forgotten to go to the store and get any.

Seriously. I was old enough to know what should be down there and highly curious and then to just see....well.....nothing, was a real let down.

I looked at Barbie and thought "poor woman."

their faces are really freaky aren't they? GIANT EYES, GIANT LIPS, GIANT HEADS, GIANT HAIR and then these teeeeeeeny tiny bodies, impossibly long legs, and do you know how you change out the shoes on these dolls? The ENTIRE FOOT comes off. Yep, you make them into an amputee Brat when you change out their shoes. The foot is permanently in the shoe.

well there's a cell phone, giant hairbrushes, LOADS of purses and shoes, tiny tiny clothes that are actually rather ho-ish (tank tops, miniskirts, fishnet hose, spiked boots, etc).

Bracelets, anklets, hats, sunglasses. Bottled water.

you have the most interesting life. Your stories are a hoot! :)

Back in the day, we would have our Barbies smooch on each other, we'd giggle, we just never said out LOUD that we were doing gay Barbies.

Nowdays we're a lot more open about it. ;-) The dolls have finally come out of the closet.

I had one I bought when they first came out...and chucked her out when I found her at the bottom of my daughter's toychest. Yeccchh....

Actually there are boy bratz but they have a girly look to them too.

She got so damn many for her birthday. She doesn't bring them out often, she's kinda getting too old to play with them anyway.

But gay Bratz, now there's a new twist! LOL!
