I attended Jimmy Carter's Inauguration
An event I will never forget. He is one of the most honest presidents that we ever elected in America. A good man, a good christian, but never shoved his beliefs down our throughts.

1. That man is in large part the reason I'm a Democrat. I'm jealous
of your trip. Got any souvenirs from it?

6. Yes I do,
many many many. The sad thing I remember was the freedom, we walked in the halls of the Senate and Congress, no questions asked. The parade was open with no fear. We were not searched, everyone just seemed to be happy to share to event.

I have pictures but no scanner otherwise I could send my rememberances on to you.

Our US Senator Stevenson at that time gave my friend and I two tickets to attend whatever we wanted. We really worked hard for the Dem ticket. Someplace I have a blank check signed by Sen. Muskie (that was the only thing available at the time). This was during the time I l ived in Illinois.

2. You are lucky .
I was not born yet . But I have heard stories about how he and his wife got out of the limo and instead walked the rest of the parade route to wave to the people . Is this true ?

4. At the Dem National Convention in NYC in
'92 President Carter was shaking hands with folks with his back turned to me. I so hoped that he would turn around and I could shake his hand and thank him, however it was not to be. I was an usher- what a blast anyway.

3. Carter was the last decent President we had
and he would have had a 2nd term if it wasn't for the GOP making a deal with Iran to not release the hostages until after the election.

9. And that would have prevented much of the BS ...
that this country is going through today if you think about it .

12. Not only would it be different in America
but since Carter was able to get Egypt and Israel to come to peace , imagine what he might have been able to do for the entire region .

2002 was way too long for him to get the Nobel Peace Prize .

13. You know what?
I just don't remember any security and this was after JFK. There just was not a problem. We didn't have a problem. If there was one, we never felt it. What a difference between yesterday and today.
