I'm such a geek
Last night hubby and I went to dinner. At the restaurant the menu sported the chef's name, so I asked the waitress to ask the chef which choice was her favorite creation (as that is often the best choice). The waitress informed me that the chef didn't cook there, she only trained the other cooks. So I asked why they put her name on the menu if she wasn't really the chef and the waitress rolled her eyes at me and took off. That hurt my feelings. I can't imagine why but it did, to the point of tears. I wasn't being snobbish it was an honest question and I thought a reasonable one. In all my years I've never seen the chef's name on a menu anyway, and the chef on the menu wasn't even cooking the meals! Anyway I felt like an idiot and was so embarrassed that it brought me to tears. So why am I such a freakin geek?

1. I hope you left that waitress a penny tip...
That was a perfectly reasonable question.

3. thanks for that
I didn't think I was being unreasonable. I just don't know why it bothered me so much. We were with friends so I made my husband tip her for their portion of the tab. I felt like I embarrassed them with my reaction and I didn't want them to get a bad wrap for not tipping.

4. You would be geek...
...if the website you made about your night out had stuff like

<?php
$sadness = $_GET<'sadness'>;
echo $sadness;
?>

That would make you a geek.

You are just emotional. And that is fine with me..

5. She needs to find a job she can do correctly.
Something in which she doesn't have to deal with the public.

6. Well it was rude of her but

why did you expect her to know or have any control over the situation.

It seems unlikely she has any control or influence over the design of menus.
