Well, the Disney movie ¡°Mulan¡± is loosely based on a Chinese legend dating back to the 4th of 5th century AD. The Huns had invaded China (not sure if it is the same Huns of Atilla that also gave Rome problems or no?) and a woman disguised as a man in the Chinese army played a key part in successfully defending China from the invasion.

Of course, Disney gave Mulan a miniature dragon sidekick voiced by Eddie Murphy (foreshadowing his playing Shrek¡¯s Donkey sidekick in the future¡­) and made her a bit of a tomboy who went in to the army to save her father.
