He was District Attorney of Dallas

Useless trivia: He would have been the prosecutor in Lee Harvey Oswald's expected trial

5. I beleive Wade was the Texas attorney general.

Roe was the psuedonym of the woman who wanted an abortion and sued to have the texas statute making abortion illegal struck down. Wade would have been the public official, probably texas attorney general, defending the constitutionality of laws prohibting abortions.

Roe is one of the traditional fake names used in legal proceedings to protect someone's anonymity, John Doe, Richard Roe, Mary Roe.

On edit, I stand corrected. Strange state, texas, apparently they leave it to the DA in the county where the suit was filed to defend constitutional attacks on state statutes, most states let the state AG do it.
