What is the funniest film ever for you?
For me, it was "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World".

I saw this film in Hawaii in 1964. I laughed myself silly. Too many great stars to mention. It was such a great experience. The theatre I saw it in (Kuhio) was recently torn down. :-(

What about you?

:D

:hi:

11. Get Shorty!
I only rented it because I am a Bette Midler fan and this was the only thing she did that I had never seen. Well, I was in hysterics...Travolta is a riot, Renee Russo, Gene Hackman, and the guy from "The Sopranos" are all hilarious in this. Travolta does sort of a spoof on his character in "Pulp Fiction".
Best line: "It's the Rolls Royce of minivans!"

Jonathan Mardukas: Did she hurt you, Jack?
Jack Walsh: Yeah, she did.
Jonathan Mardukas: I'm sorry.
Jack Walsh: What're you sorry about?
Jonathan Mardukas: I'm sorry you're hurt.
Jack Walsh: I'm not hurt.
Jonathan Mardukas: You just said you were hurt.
Jack Walsh: I'm not hurt.
Jonathan Mardukas: I just asked you if you were hurt and you said "Yeah, I'm hurt."
Jack Walsh: That's because you made me say that.
Jonathan Mardukas: Jack, you're a grown man. You're in control of your own words.
Jack Walsh: You're goddamn right I am. Now here come two words for you: Shut the fuck up.

Jonathan Mardukas: No I don't have to do better than that, because it's the truth. I can't fly. I suffer from aviaphobia.
Jack Walsh: What does that mean?
Jonathan Mardukas: It means I can't fly. I also suffer from claustrophobia and agoraphobia.
Jack Walsh: Well if you don't shut up, pretty soon you're gonna suffer from fistaphobia.

But I saw an old couple bein' visited by their children-and all their grandchildren too. And the old couple wasn't screwed up, and neither were their kids or their grandkids. And I don't know, you tell me. This whole dream, was it wishful thinking? Was I just fleein' reality, like I know I'm liable to do?

... And it seemed real. It seemed like us. And it seemed like well ... our home . . . If not Arizona, then a land, not too far away, where all parents are strong and wise and capable, and all children are happy and beloved.... I dunno, maybe it was Utah.

Even though it was about the cold war it is still relevant in it's observations about the military/industrial complex.

It's a little known South African (I think) movie made in the late 70's. There was also a part two which was also hilarious but not as good as the first. It just goes to say you don't need special effects just good shots to make a good movie! If you haven't seen it, look for it. You will not be disappointed!

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Blazing Saddles
South Park BLU
Lebowski

Of course there's also Duck Soup, but the Marx Brothers are in a class unto themselves............

59. Not Another Teen Movie
This is the single funniest film I have ever seen. It is a parody of all those teen films like Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller &c. &c. &c. It is definitely NOT for children as it violates just about every sensibility everyone has. While it can be pretty vulgar, it is also subtle and smart with much attention to detail. The best part is the Grease-esque musical number near the end. Funnier every time I see it.

I watched a DVD the other day containing several short films by two of the most twisted and depraved film makers in cinematic history: Tex Avery and Chuck Jones. There was no dialogue, just a self-destructive cartoon coyote who always fails to capture the roadrunner but never fails to get killed. At first glance, the cartoons seem really simple, but there is a truckload of psychological nuance in each one. As I watched Coyote weld handlebars onto a jet engine, I thought, "This is a good idea. Nothing can possibly go wrong." What kind of twisted minds dreamed this stuff up? "Okay, what if he straps a refridgerator onto his back to generate snow? He could ski down the hill after the road runner!" Funny, funny stuff.

I've seen that movie more times than I can remember. John Belushi is a frickin' genius. That line "we got both kinds- we got country and western" still makes me laugh. Oh, and the four fried chickens and a coke bit.

Staplerfahrer is ... well ... messy. Not to mention: short.

I don't think that it is available stateside, it is a good gag movie for parties, it sells for three to five Euros at most local video stores.
