Funny vacation story

At least I thought it was.

This was several years ago. My wife and I were sitting at a breakfast table with a few other couples having a conversation about this and that. Somehow the conversation turned to the news and I asked something about a story and asked if they had seen it and this was the woman's response, I swear to God.

"Oh no, we don't watch that channel. We watch that other channel, the Republican news channel. Honey? What's the name of that?"

"Um, . . . ."

I said, "Fox News??"

She replied, "YEAH! That's it! We watch Fox News, we don't watch any other channel."

I took a bite of my bagel as my wife gave me a squeeze under the table encouraging me to just remain quiet, and she was extremely proud of me when I did.

I walked away dumbfounded.

When her car broke down and her dealership had this on some (her words here) "football stadium-sized TV set" while she waited. She was also forced to sit with a Stepford wife who kept commenting, "Isn't Bush great? Aren't we blessed to have him?" like every two minutes.

My mother can laugh about it now, but for two days afterward, she had serious stomach problems (I'm sure there's no coincidence). ;-)
