1. It's a club where people with High IQ's and Low Self Esteem
Get together to feel like they're better than everyone else.

3. they collect dues
They told us we were all genuises and, er, we could join for x number of dollars apiece. Yeah right.

I was told I had an IQ of 177!!!! Whew! I'm smarter than Einstein!

"King of the HIll" had a cute segment about Peggy Hill being taken by a similar albeit more ambitious scam.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

4. Admitedly, they do one fun activity:
they get together every year with boardgames that have yet to come out and they rate them. You can take some home afterwards. We got a few unreleased games that were pretty good, and should have come out.

6. All you have to do to get in is have an IQ over 140 I think
I've always wondered if the people with an IQ of 150 think that they are smarter than the people with 140. Are there social ranks within Mensa? I don't know

9. I think it's like Richter readings...
Each extra point is a power of ten larger than the previous one. LOL

I have a teacher who keeps telling us he is in Mensa and has an IQ higher than (he names whatever person we were discussing).

It's come to be a joke with us: "What did you bring for lunch?" "Macaroni-and-cheese." "Well, Mr. B's IQ is higher than than cheese's."

I have to share some of the things I've learned here about Mensa with my friends tomorrow.

10. It's a social club
Each city or state has it's own group, each group has different activities every month. Some are as simple as getting together and going to the movies together or meeting for happy hour or play games. Some do other things like have their own Toastmasters' Clubs or sponsor volunteer events. It's just a structure for people to get together and meet other people to do stuff with. You just have to be able to pass their iq level.

11. About the same as the Little People of America
Mensa is a social club. Like the LPA it helps people who perceive themselves/are perceived by others as very different from the norm to meet each other and socialize. Often this includes finding dates.
