1. Is that an Oklahoma avatar on your post????
It is WAAAYYY too early for the Hawk in Chicago, LOL. That doesn't happen when the temperature is 30-some degrees at night.

Thought it IS supposed to be rainy, chilly and windy for DA GAME tomorrow night.

Royal Australian Navy.

On edit: And here I always thought Thunder Bay was in Ontario, as in Canada.

6. Those are all turquoise, as you can see my flag is royal blue.
Haul in the yardarm, sorry I sometimes just need to use some navy terms.

On edit: The sun is over the yardarm is the better term, shiver me timbers and hoist the mainsail, splice and mainbrace and avast in the head.

9. USS Thunderbay???
Australian navy ships have the USS designation? Doesn't that get confusing, or has numbnuts now occupied Oz as well as Afghanistan and Iraq? Lordy!. They will be calling every moderately able-bodied man under the age of 70 for that!

No wonder you sound quite ill.

15. I don’t mean to be picky but you misspelled “five”

Five is only spelled “golf” if you are speaking formal Yazentickxstien. Then it is a little more heavy on the “click” at the middle diphthong.

16. Sigh, do I have to explain the game of golf to you? I am NOT a player,
but certain kinds of golf courses are referred to as links. The world-famous St. Andrews, for example, as seen in the link below.

http://www.standrews.org.uk/

Also strange that I have never heard "links" being used as an Australian eupehmism for courses, meaning parts of a meal. Unless of course, you are talking pig Schmuckistartanisgisch. Though only with a slight highland regional accent, otherwise, they say dinner or tucker or grub, like most Aussies.

17. Funny story about golf
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 09:34 PM by The Lone Liberal

The one about the kangaroo and the 10-handicap duffer, it always brings the house down. Since it doesn't have any nautical terms in it, I rarely tell the story myself.

18. Oh I think I have heard that!
The 10 handicap duffer and the roo went golfing together. On the 3rd hole, the duffer croaked. The roo was hours and hours on the golf course, and all his little friends were scared shitless about what had happened to him.

Finally, he got back to roo-ville and quickly explained, in roo-speak, of course, "Well, at the 3rd hole, Ralph dropped dead. After that, to complete the game, it was hit the ball, drag Ralph, hit the ball, drag Ralph." You have no idea how tiring that was! At least I didn't have any joeys in my pocket."

20. Uh, see post above, but here it is repeated.
Excuse if I ask an indelicate question, but you MUST be a man. Oops, that wasn't a question, but a statement.

2. That kinda weather favors Chicago
Although I hear the Mayor may make another appearance, which could be a jinx. Personally, I think he's showing up on purpose to curse the Cubs. Damn him.

21. Sorry to all - I caused the loss of game two - I just had to watch - and
my Cub Karma did them in - yet again.

Indeed, if you are into this sort of thing, the Cubs are great at proving to yourself how you bring bad luck!

:-)

Oh well - as one moves thru (only Chi town Trib readers appreciate that spelling of through)7 decades, one learns to appreciate the Cubs for helping to develope your thick skin, ability to take/handle real life, etc.

This will always be the year of the first road game win since 1945!

:-)
