I will gladly return the favor when able.

"Has anybody here seen my old friend John. Can you tell me . . . .

You know what I'm talkin' about.

1. Dion wrote it
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 10:32 PM by WannaJumpMyScooter
lots of people sang it

Has anybody here seen my old friend Abraham?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good die young,
But I just looked around and he's gone.

Has anybody here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good die young,
But I just looked around and he's gone.

Has anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good die young,
But I just looked around and he's gone.

Didn't you love the things that they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be free.
Someday soon, it's gonna be
One day.

Has anybody here seen my old friend Bobby?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I thought I saw him walkin'
Up over the hill,
With Abraham, Martin and John.

2. Dion: Abraham, Martin & John
Yes, the guy who sang Run Around Sue. He was a huge Kennedy supporter. As I understand it he had the song written when Bobby was killed and added that in. He was crushed. As we all were.

4. Oh yes
Thank you so much.

I want the info so I can download it.

I'll probably cry, though.

3. Elton John? Maybe
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 10:35 PM by Jamastiene
I think it was a song about John Lennon. If you do a search on one of the search engines and add lyrics to the end of what you just typed, you'll find it.

13. Empty Garden is the one you are thinking of
What happened here
As the New York sunset disappeared
I found an empty garden among the flagstones there
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And now it all looks strange
It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain

And what's it for
This little empty garden by the brownstone door
And in the cracks along the sidewalk nothing grows no more
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And we are so amazed we're crippled and we're dazed
A gardener like that one no one can replace

And I've been knocking but no one answers
And I've been knocking most all the day
Oh and I've been calling oh hey hey Johnny
Can't you come out to play

And through their tears
Some say he farmed his best in younger years
But he'd have said that roots grow stronger if only he could hear
Who lived there
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
Now we pray for rain, and with every drop that falls
We hear, we hear your name

Johnny can't you come out to play in your empty garden

8. Holy cow!
Don't search for "Dion" on SoulSeek, or all you will get is Celine.

Better try Abraham instead.

16. Bobby's Assassination was...
...the darkest moment of my teens. His and MLK's deaths, coupled with trickie dickie's election, made 1968 one of the ugliest and bleakest years in history.

I was 8 When JFK died. I remember my mom, me and my sister, then 18, sitting huddled on the couch and crying at the TV coverage.

That song still gives me a huge lump in my throat
