Cannes... and next thing I knew it was up to like 100 there was all this flame shit going on & I didn't know what the hell was happening & I walked silently away... :scared:

Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 11:08 PM by Maestro
I have had heated discussions but no flame wars. Now at some rethuglican dominated sites I definitely have started some crap. Got banned too and I am damned proud of it.

5. Well so was my heated discussion
I really didn't think that it would cause such a polarizing reaction but it did. I know what you mean.

4. Oh ... any posts promoting creationism.
I can't resist slapping them down. So I've battled through the odd flamewar before.

Plus one time when Someone completely misunderstood my remarkas and blazed away at me time after time, not realising he was underminign his own point. But that was a while ago.

12. How 'bout Those EAGLES?
I might get grief for this, living in Maine now and for the rest of my days, but as a Philly native I HAVE to pull for the "IGGLES" at least until they win one Superbowl!

9. The first night of the Iraq war
I later learned that it almost caused me to be tombstoned. It was titled "Nader voters: You caused this!" and I posted it as the first bombs were falling in Baghdad. I made a lot of people quite angry, to say the least (though I never apologized). I was just so furious, thinking of all those upper-crust Nader voters sitting in their San Francisco townhouses and Upper East side penthouses going about life without a care in the world to the consequences of what they did in 2000. Fortunately, most of them learned their lesson in time for 2004.

10. It wasnt here
On another nonpolitical site a few years ago, I started one aimed at a nasty poster that didnt belong. it wasnt that bad and I didnt use his name, but it was hinted strongly. A few months afterward, we were notified by his wife who also posted that he died suddenly. I'll never go down that road again.

11. I Don't Think I Started it,...
...but I was just in my first earlier this week when another DU'er pointed me to a site that bashed adoption across racial lines. I frankly got sick of it after awhile and have no interest in another one. It was a situation, however, that I felt called for response.

Believe it or not, I don't want the government to ban abortion. I just think the way that some people argue for that position is silly.

21. Welcome to DU -
under ten posts would definitely mean you haven't been involved in any flame wars. :hi:

And to the OP: I didn't start one, but I accidentally stepped in one regarding frivolous lawsuits. Oops.

20. Started a flame war at work last week. I overheard the dispatcher
talking about how he plans to make life miserable for some of the older drivers. I even heard the names and his plans of making them quit.

24. Woody Allen: Brilliant Director, or Overrated Hack?
I meant it to be a pure, objective evaluation of his directing talent... but instead it turned into an enormous flame war about his - uh - "relationship" with Sun Yi.
