The Weatherman blows his credibility....

"Winter storm Warning"...Went to bed last night expecting to awaken to a 9" blanket on everything.

Looks like maybe 3". Forecast for another 2 or so.

But then, the wind's supposed to pick up later today and pile the stuff up like sand dunes...

Believe it when I see it.

Last year, they called a WSW, and all the schools and a lot of businesses closed at noon. For a rain shower.

3. Ditto
I'm president of a skeptics' group in Texas, and that book's a must-read for our kind.

2. They're all the same. Promise 10, deliver 3.
They shouldn't bother with specifics.

Or learn from a bunch of turtles that live in another country...

4. Last weekend in Florida...
they were announcing WARNING*WARNING - HUGE WAVES expected - up to 12 feet with high winds - STAY OFF THE BEACH.

Well, I live at the beach and the waves were - and I'm not kidding - about 2 feet high. You would have thought we were having a tsunami but the waves were barely big enough to surf on.

Oh, yeah, and when there really was a giant wave heading for Thailand, there was no warning at all.

I guess there's no need to keep the people in Southeast Asia frightened all the time like in Amerika.

It's pretty sad when you can't even trust the weathermen anymore!

Good luck to everyone in the snow!!

5. I have a tale of the opposite
A huge storm blew in from the north...wind, ice pellets...the wind was so bad, it tore shingles off roofs, branches were broken off trees, boxes and garbage from dumpsters were flying 3,4 stories in the air; even all the stuff on my balcony was blown back and forth (and it's a 30 ft balcony!).

Turn on the Weather Network. No warnings, no mention of it, nothing. An hour later, nothing. It took 1 1/2 hrs for the storm to be reported, because the Weather Network's equipment is all at the airport - south of the city.

The wind was recorded at 120 km/hr. Now how do you miss a system that produces that?

Might as well read entrails. :eyes:
