Name the Liberal Celeb you LOVE TO HATE
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 12:35 PM by Beware the Beast Man
Gee, where do I start?

OK, I'll have to go with Sean Penn. Good actor, admire his causes, but he just comes across as a cocky, ill-tempered SOB.

According to my friend, Sarandon was a very unpleasant individual.

20. I'll second that, he's horrible.
How does someone who's made so damn many godawful flop movies in a row get to keep starring in movies? Has he bypassed Kevin Costner's shite-tally yet?

I swear, the only thing Affleck's ever been good in was "Dazed and Confused," where he played a sadistic, spanking-obsessed, flunked high school senior who gets a bucket of paint dumped on him and throws a tantrum. Must have been typecasting.

Oh yeah, and his buttsex-obsessed sexual predator in "Mallrats" was convincing, too.

Hmmmm, spankings, buttsex........... Jennifer Lopez...........

25. It's a complete mystery to me.
Kevin Smith must see something in him that I sure don't...since he's been in almost all of Smith's films.

I rank Affleck in the same category as Keanu Reeves in the "Why the fuck does this no-talent entity keep getting film roles" category.

16. Like I said
Doesn't strike me as being that liberal-it's more like he 'is' because the cool fun kids are doing it. I saw him speak at length on CSpan once, and something did not ring true to me.

i don't pay much attention to what celebs do or not, so I'd not heard of any name-calling by him. But if it's true, then, my gut feelings were right.

I never watch that show, but I hear enough about him from you guys to know that he's counterproductive to every aspect of liberal thought. In his radio show years ago, he seemed quite able to articulate a well-reasoned analysis of the issues. This leads me to believe that he's been co-opted by Faux News to be Hannity's designated whipping boy. He's WORSE than useless!

On edit: he's not a celeb in the sense that everyone else is answering, but he's on an extremely popular cable TV show, so I figured that - in our culture - that counts as celebrity of a sort.

13. Barbara Streisand.
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 12:38 PM by aden_nak
I've never much cared for her singing (she has a great voice, but she sings schmaltzy crap) and she fancies herself as some kind of political humorist, when the truth is it's just embarrassing. Every time she does one of those fake political covers of her own material I want to stab myself in the ear with an olive fork. She's cannon fodder for the pundits and comentators who like to take cheap shots at liberals but need an easy target.

If she wants to do fund raising and so on for the Democrats, good for her. But she needs to learn where the line between "entertainer" and "political comentator" is, and stay on her side of it. I could do without her cash if it meant I would also be able to do without her obnoxious, self-agrandizing personality.

19. she's almost never on TV and I can't remember the last time I heard
her making any political comments. It's funny how Chuck Heston can go stand around with rifles for the NRA but Streisand basically has to stay out of the limelight

21. At the DNC fundraisers.
She does those songs. . . it's mostly the songs. Every time she does one, they play it and harp on it for weeks and weeks. . . it makes the Dems look like a bunch of unfunny, whiny in-joke snobs. And she can't see it. That's what bothers me about her.
