Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 02:49 PM by pbartch
Tommy Roe is sometimes described as "The father of Bubble Gum Music" .....I used to "do it" listening to DIZZY

Here is what he is doing now..... http://www.ncbuy.com/news/2004-12-06/1011251.html

Busy Schedule Makes Tommy Roe `Dizzy'

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Even though Tommy Roe had his biggest hits in the 1960s, he's still rocking steady.

The man who gave the world hits like "Sheila," "Sweet Pea" and "Dizzy" takes songwriting just as seriously as he did 40 years ago, even though he admits the music market isn't as open to him as it was back then.

He's not resting on his hits either. A few years back, he had an acid jazz band with his daughter and he recently released a new CD, "Salute," featuring his newest songs.

Roe says tunes still come to him in the darnedest places, such as his newest song, "Devil's Soul Pile," which came to him while he was trout fishing in the Sierra mountains near a town called "Devil's Post Pile."

In addition, Roe is adding his touch to classic tunes as well. He's just recorded a version of "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" for a new compilation record, "Rockin' Christmas Oldies, Vol. 1."

maybe because dad called me Sweetpea when I was a kid. who knows? i always get up and dance to this song. i wish it was twice as long. LOL.

I went to a dance just the other night
I met a girl there she was out of sight
I asked a friend of mine who she could be
he said that her friends just call her Sweet Pea

Oh Sweet Pea
come on and dance with me

Oh Sweet Pea

2. I'm so dizzy my head is spinnin'
Like a whirlpool it never ends...

Ah, my mis-spent youth... a lad gave me that 45 and a box of candy. Years after I moved to a different state, he would still stop and take my mom to dinner when he was in her area.

Now, it just describes the relapse of pertussis I am dealing with... x(
