One of my former professors is getting the Nobel Prize!
Quantum trio share Nobel physics prize
Tuesday, October 7, 2003 Posted: 9:22 AM EDT (1322 GMT)

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (CNN) -- Alexei Abrikosov, Anthony Leggett and Vitaly Ginzburg have won the 2003 Nobel Prize in physics for their contributions to two areas of quantum physics -- superconductivity and superfluidity -- which shed light on the outlandish properties of matter at extremely low temperatures.

Tony Leggett was one of my professors when I was a physics grad student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He taught one of the quantum mechanics classes I took, and sat on my qualifying exam committee.

I wish I could say that I had something to do with his research, but my research interests were elsewhere...

Hooray for Tony! :toast:

I bet your pleased.

Speaking of phsyics, here's a title of a book I just started to read:

"The Quantum and the Lotus: A Journey to the Frontiers Where Science and Buddhism Meet"
by Matthieu Ricard, Trinh Xuan Thuan, Xuan Thuan Trinh

I wish I had the IQ to comprehend it more but I'll keep chiping away at my brain like the rain does to rock.

4. You have to think, though
that his name appearing in your education section will look REALLY good on your resume.
