Any other emusic subscribers get the e-mail....

I guess they are going from $14 a month unlimited legal downloads to $14 a month for 65 downloads maximum. Talk about slamming on the brakes while going full speed ahead.

There were people on their message boards that bitched about the 2,000 song maximum in a 30 day period. I would imagine they are going to get a lot of cancelled subscriptions.

Until the GREEDY record executives realize that people want to have control over what they do with music they purchased then p2p downloading will continue. I don't want to pay a subscription and be told how many downloads I can have per month. I don't want to have a marketing weenie select the music from which I get to choose. That was the beauty of napster...almost everything was out there.

Another thing...many over 35 years of age have already bought the same music in several formats: LP, cassette and CD. How many times will people be coerced into paying for the same music?

Admittedly it was all independent labels but if you are/were a fan of indie rock, electronica, jazz, classical, or world music it was a treasure trove.

I can see where slightly more limited than 2000 songs a month might have been in order. But from that to 65 is just ridiculous.

Emusic was just too good to be true and soon it won't be. I've downloaded hundreds of albums. Just about the whole Sonny Rollins discography, Bill Evans, Charlie Parker and on and on.

Found lots of great artists I'd never heard of before. So much great music, especially (or necessarily) if your tastes are a bit out of the mainstream.

I first thought the $9.95 was for 40 albums (still not so bad) but it's for 40 tracks! So we have a month to clear out our stashes and cancel our subscriptions.

I can't imagine that many subscribers will stay with the service.

4. Yeah, it's a shame...

I could have seen them limiting it to much less than the 2,000 tracks they were letting people get away with already. But $14 for 65 tracks? I'd be better of taking chances on 3 or 4 used cds for that much.

I got a lot of good music though so I can't fully complain.
