Magic? Mysticism? Beuller?
I'm still youngish, but I've gone through a gamut of religious beliefs and I'd like to hear opinions on it. I was raised Jewish and for a time was religiously Jewish. Then I went agnostic for a bit. Then I went into Wicca/magic(k)/hippie stuff. Now I've settled on a sort of amalgam I'm about to explain.

I don't believe in specific rules and procedures for religion or spirituality, but I do believe a complete materialistic worldview is too limiting. I believe in ideas like gods and goddesses in a sort of abstract panthiestic way. I mean, if Ganesh, Kuan Yin, and Eris (of course, and I know she's no longer indie, but still... ) can represent me spiritually, who am I to say no? Magicwise it's not all that hard to believe in ghosts and energies and other forms of assorted weirdness. I don't believe in anything specific, I just keep an open mind that the unseen is something more. I mean, a few hundred years ago imagine how magical magnets were. Or our modern A/V technology?

Of course, that said, I'd rather not see the spiritual picked apart down to the basest levels. Call me the bastard lovechild of Crowley and Schroedinger, but I think if we looked too hard at spirituality it becomes stale and pointless. I mean, does the rain or the full moon seem as wonderful to you if you think about it as falling water from differences in air pressure, or a big rock really far away with light from a giant gasball bouncing off of it?

So... um... I guess I'm a new ager in denial. I don't spell magick, I don't hang wind chimes and mirrors, but I do hope to find something more and weirder in the world.

Later I'll talk about morality and ethics in relation to religion, but for now how about we have a nice discussion about spirituality and mysticism? Anyone?
