If you could recapture one aspect of your youth what would it be?

For me?

I would like to be able to eat and eat and never gain an ounce again.

I like my job but it is the dominant slack-sucker in my life.

COPD SUCKS

boy soprano singing voice. I hated it at the time, because boy sopranos sounded 'girly' to me. Puberty hit, and I became a nice, manly baritone. I also developed an appreciation for the beauty of the male singing voice. Especially boy's choirs. Now, sometimes I wish I could have that voice back, just for a while, to sing the pieces I've grown to love.

Except, for Bush.

man, the ability to just go out, once in a while, and just get laid for fun without worrying whether it was going to kill you. Took it for granted.

All of these improved enormously when I started dancing a lot.
I have more energy and agility now than I ever did when I was in my teens, actually.
(In those days, we didn't have raves :-(, dancing was exclusively a courtship ritual,
and we were expected to get our exercise from doing sports :puke:)

on a remote hilltop in the mountains of N. Cal. for several hundred of us

Back before I realized that there's a lot of people in this world that just don't give a shit about anyone else.

She had epilepsy but it did not seem to be getting worse. One day, my father drove away with my dog, he said he was taking her to the vet. After my dog was gone for two or three days, he left it to my mother to tell me my dog had died. I thought it a strange coincidence, but at that age I didn't realize what had happened. Years later, I came to realize they had "put my dog to sleep". I never had a chance for a last hug or to say a last goodbye. Neither parent appeared particularly sad that my dog was gone.

I am probably really agnostic/athiest or something like that. But I do sort of believe that there is g-d, who takes little kids' dogs and cats and even the big kids' dogs and cats (along with other animals) because he want their sweet company for himself. I don't think that includes humans, though.

A flat tummy, yes its shallow and my tummy isn't THAT bad, but totally flat and smooth, I would love that. And although I do love my "responsibilities", I could sure use a weekend off at this point.

Optimism, energy, enthusiasm, daring, courage, stamina, perfect health, my looks, high libido, decent eyesight, having a great weekend on $20, being able to stay up for three days nonstop, the belief that I was invinceable....

Oh, sorry, that was a lot more than one. Let's just say "everything."

but I hated being young, because no one took me seriously. I had no money, couldn't travel freely, had no idea how to talk to people... I could go on and on. I love being an adult.

Perhaps because I was born with a congenital condition, I do not associate youth with much that is pleasant. Being healthy and free of pain was something I did not experience until my mid to late 30s. And there is nothing good about being unable to earn more than $1 or $2 an hour as I did as a teen. No money, no respect, no freedom, every minute of the day filled with either school or some ****ty job that barely kept the gas in my car and beans on the table.

Being able to grab quick sex without fear of disease was one positive I can remember; hell, having time to get to know someone and fool with all their issues wasn't an option or a desire. The other thing would be it seemed easier to enjoy an un-approved medication once in awhile without getting involved in the whole drug culture and associating with boring, drama queen addicts. So maybe the only positive thing about my youth was the 70s. It must have been nice to be young in a healthy body then I'm sure.

However, for me, I would be better off freezing my age around 40, before my memory completely vanished but while I'm still slim and fit, with the bonus of having my awful eyesight nicely repaired by LASIK. I suppose it's all downhill from here, although I can still eat what I like -- keeping my fingers crossed that I'll enjoy this one for at least a few more years, since my parents are both still slim into old age.

There's never been another year to compare with it.

It was perfection. I was a handsome devil, cocky yet sensitive, completely in tune with the spirit of the times, had *four* girlfriends, worked a job, played in a band, started college, had the world by the tail.

Of course, by December '67 I was hospitalized with mono, so there was a price tag for fun even then!

When I was young...I did whatever I wanted without thinking of consequence. Someone called me a name? I clobbered them...Teacher gave me shit? I told her of (IN a little kid sort of way). If I felt like jumping off the roof..I did it.

Wanna play with matches in the garage? Go ahead.

Now after a serious bender I'm whcked for a few days.

I'm about 30 lbs. heavier than when I was in my 30s.

Way way back...when I was like 5. Books, movies, even tv always had the good guys winning. JFK was elected when I was 9, the earliest election I remember.

It was sad to grow up and learn that good things don't always happen to good people.

It's the only thing I remember from my childhood that I can remember without cringing or shuddering. Having three months off to read, swim, sleep, do whatever I liked...I'd give nearly anything to be able to do that and not starve.
