Poll question: Seventh Inning Stretch Song
My own never-quite-humble opinion is that it's been OVER TWO FUCKIN' YEARS - we should get back to the real seventh inning stretch song, and not this fucktarded "pity us, we got attacked" nonsense. Slippery Jeebus on a stick! How long must we have this assinine nationalistic hoohah shoved in our faces?!? Can't baseball just fucking be BASEBALL again?

1. Cubs fans got over it a long time ago

We always sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". Wouldn't be a Cubs game without it.

12. Only on Sunday at Fenway until...
Now it seems it's "God Bless America" as well as "Take Me Out..." at every game. I have a feeling it's MLB calling those shots.

I'm curious, is "GBA" not played now during the NLCS? Television doesn't cover it at the ALCS but they play it every game.

2. I am SOOOO Sick of 'God Bless America'
Especially the recorded Kate Smith version played during the regular season.

:puke:

I prefer 'America The Beautiful' or 'Star-Spangled Banner'. But I would rather get back to the game of baseball!

9. Really, recorded?

At Fenway? Dang. Maybe I'm not so sad that I didn't get to town this year. It was always live in Seattle, and even here in Portland during the AAA Beavers games.

I, too, prefer America The Beautiful or This Land is Our Land, but Take Me Out is the way to go!

5. I propose we move forward and replace "Take me out to the ball game"
with Terrance and Phillip's "Unclefucker"

6. Does The Song Differ Between Boston And Chicago?
Or is it the beer and the attitudes of the fans?

I'm stuck in Chicago right now and have been a Cubs fan for most of my midwest life.

What the heck: the only things I hate are the current administration, carrots and asparagus, terminal stupidity and insane traffic.

If I can't get a ticket to the Cub's game, then I will be out at Wrigleyville with a beer in hand celebrating.

7. I liked Ozzy doing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" a while back
during the seventh inning stretch. I don't recall what game/city it was, but it was a riot!

10. I love "God Bless America", but
I get uncomfortable when they play that song, because the past is the past, and with Iraq going on... It just reeks of egocentrism.

13. I detest the false patriotism
What gets me is when people put their hands over their hearts like it's an anthem.

Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks...

15. so sick of cops singing GBA
that song is beautiful when you hear it live once or twice a year. Now that I have heard it some 114 times in the last two years it wears on my nerves.

Forced Patriotism moment is brought to you by verizon.....

Same as usual. I didn't go in 2002, so I don't know if they ever changed from it.
