Dear Red Sox Fans
Win something first. Then you can be obnoxoius. Man, for a team that hasn't won anything of significance since 1918, their fans sure are arrogant.

1. Pot, Kettle
You not only attacked Sox fans in another thread, but attacked an A's fan as well.

Speaking of arrogance and classlessness...

Only FOUR times in 17 years!
One of the most overrated players ever.

When fans set bonfires in the right field stands?
In the ALDS, when fans injured Tim Hudson?
In game 3, when fans cheered Pedro when he assaulted a 72-year old man?

I'd like to know if I could possibly join the Red Sox fan transfer program. I still love my Seattle Mariners, but I am also loving me some Red Sox and Cubbies this year.

On to the World Series, guys, and I'll be loving every minute of it.

17. Well you guys have the money to buy the best players
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 11:43 PM by Submariner
so we wouldn't doubt you'd buy the umps too.

And when you send one of your bench toughies out to attack one of our pitchers, don't send your senior citizens out. The full film clip showing Jabba going out of his way to get around the melee to attack Pedro was quite embarrassing for the Yankees, and put Pedro in an embarrassing situation also.

I'm glad the Yanks learned their lesson and conducted themselves better tonight.

27. These cutthroat rowdies
Who injured an opposing pitcher in a bar
Who rained down garbage on Paul O'Neill in the 99 ALCS
Who chant Yankees suck at Patriot games
Who overturned a car and rioted after the ALDS

Those fans?

Really, the Red Sox victim thing was cute for awhile, but your bitterness is really boring now.

injured an opposing pitcher and overturned a car? Wow, it seems like you are holding a few fans irresponsible actions to the entire team. Alot of Yankees fans sure aren't angels, actually alot of them are fair weather fans.

30. John Rocker.
Yes, explain Yankee fan behavior on that one. And as I recall, Yankee Stadium is where throwing batteries at opposing team players is the most common.

Now, the car was simply in the way of some partygoers, and riots are healthy fun sometimes. Remember the Laker "parties" in LA every time they won the NBA? As for pitchers getting into barroom brawls, big friggin whoop- every MLB city has a sports bar for picking up groupies, and why any of them would go to annoy the homies in other ones I could only explain with the average IQ studies on MLB players.

As for throwing 'garbage' on O'Neill- well, he was an a-hole often enough. As for some fans chanting "Yankees suck" at home games, you probably know that the truth is no libel....

I mean, you'd think the Yankees had all those titles and such which would give them a sense of class and generosity in small things. But they never do- there is no pettier manager than Joe Torre, no arrogant slime that can outdo Derek Jeter on a bad day, no graciousness of fans or players on the field. And even Don Zimmer has to have an attack of senile dementia and a minor psychotic fit in public before he can step up and admit that his bunch doesn't fart perfume.

Over time every organization reflects its head's personality, and for the Yankees that's George Steinbrenner. After all these years, the personality of the Yankees is close to George's. And that's what's to hate about them- the pettiness and sloth of always needing more, of there never being enough, of always being vaguely vicious where there could be something exemplary in the way of class and grace. Maybe it's so close to the City's personality that New Yorkers don't see it. It oozes through from or into the fans, in any case they identify with it. And that real lack is what makes a certain kind of objectionable non-New Yorker a NYY fan. Zero graciousness, that's why people hate the Yankees and their fans and Steinbrenner, whatever else may be.

:-)

31. Bravo, Lexingtonian
The Yankee fans-like the Republicans-think they have the corner on the market when it comes to virtue.

I have had the pleasure of going to Yankee stadium DOZENS of times, and have seen some good behavior and classless behavior there. Same goes for Fenway. As a Red Sox Seasons Ticket holder, I can vouch for a pretty tame crowd at the 40+ games I generally go to during the year. I'm getting sick of the generalizations bandied about here regarding a whole region of fans.

BTW the Sox as a team are hitting .267 during the series, the Yanks are hitting .194. Let's see if the Sox bats come alive-there are several key players in slumps-then we can all circle back on Thursday and talk about what LOOSAHS the Sox and their fans are.
