Dear NY Yankees Fans
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 05:56 AM by matcom
the series is 2-2 which means effectively it is 0-0.

my suggestion? stop worring about us Red Sox Fans and start worrying about how you can stop our bats.

in other words..... shut up and PLAY BALL!

:P

The worst thing about the ALCS is that one of them will win.

just b/c the sox laid the smack down on the biggest bunch of whiners in baseball (a.k.a. THE OAKLAND ATHLETICS) doesn't mean you have to disparage the teams who are still in it. Go Sox!

3. I'm neither a baseball fan nor a Yankees fan....BUT...
It just always cracks me up when all the other little guys at the bar try and get all tough with the big one. I mean as a non-sports fan I don't see how there could be any other logic than the team that has won the most pennants and the most world series in history and has the longest roster of ex players who were and are regarded as the best to ever play the game could be hated or seen as anything less than the best (or one of the best) team ever. Maybe I'm missing something about baseball or sports in general. But to me anything other than that is akin to liking some shitty assed cover band for no other reason than they are from your home town. Sure they suck...but hey....there local boys!

7. Yeah, since you aren't a baseball fan

I don't have to listen to the nonsense you just spouted.

As the Boston Globe used for a headline, let's look at the tally:

Good 2, Evil 2

(Hint: even a non-baseball fan might be able to pick "Evil" in the above scenerio. So you think maybe more is going on besides "best" and "sucks"?)

(Another hint: I'm not even a Red Sox fan and I hate the Yankees. Most people in cities across America hate the Yankees - and I mean actively hate them. So maybe, just maybe... there are good reasons besides the simplistic "local guys" vs. "best team" scenerio you describe? Maybe, just maybe... they had a hell of a lot of help "winning" those "buy a pennants"?)

(And final hint: what team has an obscene amount more revenue due to their obscenely huge market (handy for dropping several million in the laps of foreign talent to outbid anyone else)? What team has nearly twice the payroll of the Red Sox? And almost 10 times the payroll of some other clubs (average it out for the rest of the clubs, it's not pretty)? Do ya think - maybe - that might have something to do with "being best" or "sucking"? Do ya think - maybe, just maybe - you take all the extra revenue and payroll away, you'd be telling us how wonderful the Yankees are? Until that happens, I'm not buying it.)

(Final final hint: And all things being equal, one of those two teams would be sitting home watching the playoffs like the rest of us - and that team sitting home doesn't wear red socks.)

5. The Bats Haven't Even Been Up To Snuff.
Ortiz, Nomar, Manny and Millar have been quiet. If they come alive, the Yanks are toast.

Matcom's Response is to all the Yankee Sore-Winner Threads that have been floating around here.

...you win it with the last game.

11. Right plus it's bad......................er..............luck
Watching a baseball game is nerve reacking enough without trash talking before it. Trust me I'm a Braves fan I've seen the boys invent ways to lose games.

10. OK. A few things, just for the sake of making a few statements.
Why did the Boston owner have to quote a ridiculous Ronald Reagan quote in attacking the Yankees? I'm sorry, but I'm still disturbed by that turn of events.

It seems to me that many Red Sox fans are just as "concerned" about Yankee fans as the old vice versa. Perhaps that comes with the territory. But I suppose I felt like it needed to be noted.

I fully admit to chuckling about the Yankee "What Rivalry?" t-shirts. Sorry, they are hilarious.

I don't like the Yankee organization. And I don't like Pedro, Manny, Nelson, or Wells, and that was before game four!

But I love this series!

Seven games! Seven games! Seven games!

Cheers!
