Dear Baseball Fans- Can't we all just get along ?
I have Red Sox fan friends as well as Yankee Fan friends- and we never go on and on like the fans have on DU this week. The name calling, gloating, accusations- It's been almost too much to bear.

With that said- may the best team win- and I'll (maybe) see you guys after the playoffs are over and "sanity" returns to DU. :hi:

1. good with me
Last night before the game started, Walker and Soriano were running in the outfield. They each extended their arms towards one another and pointed a finger, then both raised their fists. It was basically a lets get it on, may the best team win kind of thing.

The sort of thing the Soap Opera TV broadcasts always miss.

I am comfortable with letting the players air it out on the field.

I do, as should you, reserve the right to respond to comments that are way out of line.

Here's to the Best of Three ALCS!

3. I'm With You, NYYFan
I have a lot of Yankee-fan friends and we treat one another with respect. I wish some of the folks here at DU would follow suit.

10. It is just entertainment.
For those who ponder sad endings for days on end, fandom is no place for you.

8. The usual anonymity of the Internet bears its ugly head.

Even here at DU.

I've been to dozens of games in both ballparks, including a couple games featuring the Yankees vs. Red Sox, and, while there are always a few uglies in the crowd, most people are tolerant of each other, if not jovial in their jibes at one another. I see far more smiles than scowls. Even here, it seems like it's a select few who drag things into the mud. At a game, most people would walk away or turn away from such nonsense and enjoy themselves. Here we respond for some reason -- and I include myself, as I have responded far too often.

Anyway, just my two cents.

11. Nope
When players are busy going fist-to-cuffs their minds are NOT on the game. And yes, this goes for any sport, except maybe wrestling, boxing and kick-boxing.

Nothing I can't stand more is a brawl during a hockey game. And the last time I checked, basketball was supposed to be a non-contact sport. (Ah, the good old days when a foul was a foul....)

12. Thank You Candice....
.....after Sat. night my ignore list got HUGE...lost any and all respect for many here after the unrelenting vileness that was displayed...and refuse to enter into anymore *discussions* on this subject...and quite frankly couldn't care less to hear any other opinions regarding anything else from the ones on ignore because of it all....as the behavior witnessed in these baseball threads isn't much different from the insanity over at FReep land. I myself am guilty of getting angry and can't excuse the heated comments I contributed to it all...but I stated many times...if the tables had been turned I wouldn't condone or justify the same behavior coming from ANYONE regardless of why or how it happened....all of which has instigated the digression of character that's been witnessed around here lately.

:hi: Candice!! :yourock: :loveya:

14. I've been a lurker on the baseball threads
I'm a San Francisco Giants fan, prefer NL baseball, and don't have a pony in this race. There has been some hostile remarks from both Sox and Yankee fans, but it seems that the Yankee fans are on the offensive. Many are displaying the arrogance that makes the Yankee fandom the most despised in baseball.

It would be better for all if they took that attitude to baseball forums, and tried to respect their fellow DUers.

15. And I thought it was just me who noticed that
Us Red Sox fans LOVE being patronized, called morons, losers, freepers. I have Yankee fans as friends who'd be ashamed of the childish behavior here on DU.
