Poll question: Favorite Rod Stewart tune (I am so going to get flamed for this!)
Yes, young ones, there was a time, long long long ago when Rod Stewart didn't suck. Wait, let me rephrase that (urban legend fans), there was a time when Rod made really excellent music. However, recognizing that to do other would lead to untold numbers of highly monotonous replies, I have provided a None of the Above option, just this once. Cast "Other" votes by replying, don'tcha know.

Made one good album with Faces: "Long Player".

Has rested on his laurels ever since. Sad, really.

My vote was "other": for "Reason To Believe" off of "EPTAS".

6. Handbags and Gladrags is good
I know it's not HIS song (not that he really writes his own stuff anyway) but there's something about the way he sings it that touches me.

It's also the theme song to "The Office" which I just picked up on DVD, so I doubly like it now.

I loved "Rhythm of my heart" and I'll tell you why. It's a cool song with bagpipes, and the video is about a soldier who is far from home and missing his family. At the time, I was a soldier far from home and missing my family. 'Nuff said. Also a word for "The Motown Song" because it is happy, bright and optimistic.

The other early stuff is OK, and I don't necessarily change the station.

Everything disco and post-disco gets the radio thrown out the window.

I'm trying to find who did this one version that I loved--it wasn't the Flying Lizards (that was 'Money') nor B.E.F., can't remember--and while I search I see that it's been covered by everyone from Ministry to Tiny Tim. Why, it might be the second-most covered tune after 'Sweet Jane.' Maybe we should have a 'Do Ya Think I'm Sexy' festival.

"Maggie May" comes in a close second. "Every Picture Tells a Story" was an excellent album; it's the only Rod Stewart album I have. Too bad he later became a parody of himself.
