Oh Joy, It's Moving Time!
Edited on Wed Oct-15-03 03:40 PM by khephra
As many of you know, my current apartment has gone through several bouts of flooding these past few months. On top of that, the house is badly wired and we've had 3 TVs and 1 monitor blow out on me because of it.

So we decided to move.

Today...actually, right this moment; we're now in the process of moving to our new house. This time I get a second story room, instead of the basement. I doubt I'll even live in a basement again after these past floods. I've become a bit paranoid about it. Recently I've been having reoccurring dreams about loosing everything in a flood. It's been making me a bit cranky and ill tempered.

So send the vibes out for us. Last time we moved someone stole my Playstation 2. I hope I don't lose anything as expensive this time around.

Oh, and I'll be on damn dial-up until tomorrow, so I may not be around that much until the cable is installed.

(I'm not quite off the net yet, but I will be soon.)

:hi:

2. Well, we have movers
So it's not quite as painful as other moves. And the weather is cold, but nice, so that's not a problem.

What the problem is seeming to be today (and you just knew there would be one) is that the painters haven't finished painting everything, so we're having to move a lot of our stuff into the garage for now until they're done.

4. I don't think we have one.
I was more concerned about my computer room.

Mom's the one into fireplaces. Me? I just want room big enough for a wall of tvs and computers for my political work.

:-)

7. Good luck on the move!
I've moved much. Originally my husband insisted but I have learned, that it pays off when you just push through and unpack and put away every box the first week. I would get so grumpy hanging those pictures late at night but then the pain was gone. It really works to just get it over with quickly. :-)

As a side note, my eldest had recurring dreams of her roof collapsing and water pouring in at a young age. She often ended up in our room during a storm. She's been flooded out of her room twice with roof leaks. Listen to those dreams.

8. Good luck, hon
We actually have tons of liquor store boxes from a move at work - wish I could drive them to you, but since I'm in Seattle, it's a bit of a jaunt! All the best to you.

11. Good luck!
You're in the same situation I was in two months ago, only without the floodwaters.

If you have the movers pack for you, you will find that they use enough wrapping paper to account for several acres of trees. They even put paper around things that aren't breakable, like pots and pans.

They also pack absolutely EVERYTHING, including a grocery store sales slip that had fallen behind a table.

Next time I'll do my own packing.

12. Best wishes!
I feel your pain. I hate moving.
I once moved 4 times in one year. It was the worst year of my life.

Just make sure to have all your comfort items take priority over everything else. But it sounds like you know that little piece of advice already.

Sending good vibes your way!!!
