Who were the Dolly Sisters?

My Sister and I bumped into a man that my Dad use to work for and he called us the Dolly Sisters.

Does anyone know if this is a slur or were they famous for something.

I have a large collection of '20s movie magazines and stills, and I've always been interested in the Dolly Sisters. A very sad end to a beautiful woman, I think.
