Who is the most overrated Democratic politician?
We all know that Reagan was a fraud, but how about if we look within?

Who do you think has a much better reputation than deserved in our own party?

13. What's wrong with a tax-cut to the rich?
No seriously.

The Republican line has for 40 years been perpetual tax cuts to the rich because they're the solution to all the world's ills. Obviously that's bogus. The Democratic vision has been much more nuanced. Sometimes taxes need to be lowered, other times they need to be raised. It all has to do with what the economy requires when.

What Kennedy recognized in 1960 were that taxes were indeed too high and they were stifling economic growth. Today the reverse is true - taxes on the wealthy are suboptimal, and because of the resulting harm to government, again we see stifled economic growth. Don't let Republicans carictature the Democratic Party as the party of tax increases - because we're not. We simply believe in a pragmatic approach to taxation and not a simple panacea of always trying to defund and therefore destroy government.

5. The mayor of Vermont, Howard Dean.
Vermont has less people than 50 major metro areas and has virtually no minorities.

6. If the number of African Americans you represent is
proportional to your empathy for racial matters, Trent Lott would be MLK Jr. (or something like that).

14. Tom Daschle
The 2002 elections were a nightmare, and Daschle has not learned from them. He is a "get along to go along" politician, at a time when our nation is in grave danger from the most radical administration in our history. Others on this thread won't name names. I will. Okay, he's the highest ranking Dem. Take the heat and FIGHT BACK, Tom. NO MORE 2002.

15. My mistake
This was based on the other thread about the most overrated politician. I thought it might be interesting to see if we had the ability to look inward and make reasoned cases why someone in our party might once have been fallible. Though many answers did that, apparently I was wrong.

I didn't realize that I was dividing the party by asking what I thought was an interesting question. I didn't realize we'd need to do the fucking pointless candidate bashing here. And I didn't realize that I was suddenly a horrible person for asking that we look at our own history and learn lessons from it.

Thanks though, for letting me know that Dean is a joke because he's not southern and that I'm a fucking asshole for asking what I believed to be a thought provoking question.

Fuck off.

I don't even like her. Just another DLC shill as far as I'm concerned. If she entered the race she'd be my second to last pick after Lieberman.
